‘Firebug’, an upcoming series under Imperative Entertainment is set to commence its filming by March, next year in Vancouver and will star none other than, Taron Egerton, the popular actor from the ‘Kingsman’ film series. Imperative Entertainment is a production company who are known for their works, ‘Hot Summer Nights’ which premiered in 2017, ‘All the Money in the World’ which was directed by Ridley Scott, ‘The Square’ featuring Claes Bang and their recent, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ which starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro and Brendan Fraser, to name a few.
Taron Egerton was previously seen in ‘Tetris’ in which he played the role of Henk Rogers. His other works include, ‘Rocketman’ a biopic based on Elton John, ‘Black Bird’ which premiered in 2022, ‘Robin Hood’ starring Jamie Foxx and Jamie Dornan, and more. For ‘Firebug’, Imperative Entertainment will be teaming up with Eden Productions, Crime Story Media and Apple Studios. ‘Firebug’ will most likely premiere on Apple TV.
Plot of ‘Firebug’
‘Firebug’ will feature a troubled detective and an arson investigator who team up to find two serial arsonists. The series is based on the real events in the life of former American firefighter John Leonard Orr who was an arson investigator for the Glendale Fire Department in Southern California. Despite initially being hired to track down cases of arson, he eventually became a convicted serial arsonist himself as he was found to be the cause of a spate of high-profile fires across California in the 80s and 90s that led to tens of millions of dollars of damage and four deaths.
Dennis Lehane will be composing the screenplay for the upcoming series. Some of the popular works of Dennis Lehane include, ‘Small Mercies: A Novel’ which was released in April, 2023, ‘Shutter Island’ which was later adapted into a feature film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley and Mark Rufallo, ‘A Drink Before the War’ which was released in 1994 and ‘The Drop’ which premiered in 2014. Bradley Thomas, Dan Friedkin, Richard Plepler, Kary Antholis and Marc Smerling will be joining the crew for ‘Firebug’ as its producers alongside Dennis Lehane. Bradley Thomas and Dan Friedkin are known producers and co-founders of Imperative Entertainment. Richard Plepler is an established producer and a recipient of numerous accolades. Kary Antholis is known both as a filmmaker and a producer. Marc Smerling is an award winning filmmaker/ producer. Other additions to the crew include, Jane Bartelme and more.
