Bandidos, a new Mexican Netflix heist series is reportedly under production and is rumored to already be developing its second season. From the showrunner Pablo Tébar, Bandidos will follow Miguel and his accomplice Lilí, who are on a quest to retrieve a treasure from an underwater shipwreck of a Spanish galleon that sank during
the War of Independence. To reach the treasure which is situated on the Atlantic coast of Mexico, the pair seeks the assistance of a group of bandits to accomplish the underwater heist. Except, they are not alone in the treasure’s pursuit as many have their eyes on the forgotten fortune.
The development of the upcoming series in being taken up under Redrum alongside Traziende Films, Wonder Street and Netflix. ‘A Million Miles Away’ which premiered this year, ‘Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths’ which was directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, ‘Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar’ which premiered in 2021 and ‘Infinite’ which was directed by Antonie Fuqua, to name a few. The upcoming series is being filmed at Mexico City, Veracruz and Hidalgo which will potentially be the permanent filming location for the series and its sequels.
Adrian Grunberg to Direct ‘Bandidos’
Adrian Grunberg will be directing the upcoming series while Stacy Perskie, Mark Holder, Christine Holder, Andrew J. Wilson and Leonardo Zimbrón will be joining the crew as its producers. Adrian Grunberg is known both as a director and screenwriter and his works include, ‘The Black Demon’ a sci- fi horror film, ‘Get the Gringo’ which starred Mel Gibson and more, ‘Rambo 5’ which premiered in 2019 and ‘El Silencio de Neto’ a political drama, among others. Stacy Perskie is a known producer and his works include, ‘Man on Fire’ starring Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning, ‘La vida inmoral de la pareja ideal’ which premiered in 2016 and more. Additionally, he was a part of Adrian Grunberg’s ‘Get the Gringo’. Mark Holder is another known producer whose works include, ‘The Outsider’ which premiered in 2014, ‘Beasts of No Nation’ a war documentary, ‘Crawlspace’ which premiered in 2022 and more. Additionally he is the co- founder of Wonder Street Entertainment alongside Christine Holder, its producer/manager and partner. Andrew J. Wilson is an emerging producer. Leonardo Zimbrón is an establishewd producer and his works include, ‘American Curious’ a dramedy and ‘Nosotros Los Nobles’ which premiered in 2013 and more. Other additions to the crew include Rafael Cuervo, Miguel Urías, Antonio Riestra, Sebastián Barrera and Bernardo Velasco.
