At the time of writing, AppleTV+ has not renewed The Last Thing He Told Me for a second season. Given the nature of this series, that could change if it does good numbers for them.
To mark the occasion, Dave and screenwriter Josh Singer had an exclusive chat with Digital Spy. “It’s possible,” the former said of season 2 finding its way to our screens.
“It’s so funny, it took me about 10 years to write this book. I kept picking it up, and putting it down. I literally threw it in the trash. And it wasn’t until I had my child in 2016 that I realised this was the primal story of someone becoming a parent, and all the ways that that journey looks different for all of us.
“I wanted it to be an ode to the different ways that that journey looks for all of us, and an ode to found family. And so, in some ways, I feel as though there’s more story to tell. And in other ways, I feel like this is meant to be a limited series.
“We planned it as a limited series,” Dave then revealed, “and I feel like – I hope for people that really connected to the book, and for people that are coming to it fresh – it feels complete onto itself.”
The Last Thing He Told Me Season 2 Release Date
As the series The Last Thing He Told Me season two hasn’t officially been renewed, there’s no release date available for now. The Last Thing He Told Me Season Two Plot: What to expect?
In The Last Thing He Told Me’s epilogue, Hannah is forced to make a terrible decision. She can rely on witness protection, but doing so would require Bailey and her to give up everything they cherish in life.
Bailey’s life may still be in risk because Nicholas Bell’s thugs had already penetrated Witness Protection, which is far worse. This option’s one saving grace is that the Feds can eventually rejoin Hannah, Bailey, and Owen.
The substitute? Make an agreement with Nicholas Bell. Everyone is upset with Owen, not Bailey, after all. For the remainder of his life, Owen must remain a mystery in order to keep Hannah and Bailey safe.
With the understanding that no one in the criminal enterprise Nicholas Bell works with will harm Hannah or Bailey, Hannah chooses to give Nicholas Bell the opportunity to develop a relationship with Bailey. She will go back to living with Bailey in San Francisco. She will never be able to see Owen again, which is the problem.
