Hazlett is coming back to Ontario, and the name of the run says it plainly. The Brisbane-born, Stockholm-based songwriter will bring his band to the province this spring for “The Comeback Tour,” Live Nation Ontario announced, with tickets already in hand from his shelved autumn dates carrying over to the new night.
“Hazlett is back and bringing his band to town for ‘The Comeback Tour’ this coming spring,” the promoter wrote, adding that “all previously purchased tickets will be honoured for the new date.” Fresh seats, it noted, are on sale now.
That ticket line does real work, because there are a lot of previously purchased tickets. Hazlett had a full North American itinerary booked for September and October when the dates came down, with venue notices citing a health problem.
September’s Danforth date still has no night attached
The Ontario casualty was a Sept. 8 show at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall. The rest of the scrapped map ran from Montreal’s Théâtre Beanfield on Sept. 9 and Quebec City’s Palais Montcalm on Sept. 14 through Boston, New York, Washington and Chicago, closing on the West Coast at Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom on Oct. 14. Ticketmaster still lists the Danforth date as postponed, with no new night attached. The spring booking is the first movement since.
The run was built around his second full-length album, “last night you said you missed me,” and the slow-burn singles under it: “doing my best,” “Blame The Moon” and “queen of the season.” It followed his 2023 debut, Bloom Mountain, and the earlier EP Thundering Hopes.
His rise has been gradual and mostly unglamorous — years of bar gigs in Australia, a move to Sweden, and a songwriting partnership with collaborator Freddy Alexander that hardened the sound he calls indie ballroom folk. The audience came the slow way, through theatres rather than radio.
The album is still called “last night you said you missed me.” By spring, Ontario gets to answer.
