Narrating the tales of a homicide detective, Carl Mørck, Department Q and a peculiar missing case, this upcoming series is bound to interest you. Titled, ‘Department Q’, this upcoming series will focus on Carl Mørck’s ‘Department Q’ which has just Carl as its member. Despite being seen as one of Denmark’s best homicide detectives, a particular case results in a setback in Carl Mørck’s professional career. As Carl’s hesitancy with drawing his weapon for self defense results in the death of two fellow cops, he begins to blame himself. So Carl’s soon to receive promotion becomes lost and he is left with only a stack of cold cases for company. However, a new case presents an opportunity for Carl to regain his lost glory. This file containing the missing case of a liberal politician who vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead, might just open new door for Carl as the politician is supposedly not dead…yet.
This upcoming series, with its intriguing plotline is being taken up under Left Bank Pictures. Left Bank Pictures is a Britain based film and television production company whose works include, ‘Misbehavior’ a comedy drama, ‘The Damned United’ which starred Michael Sheen, Brian Clough, Timothy Spall and more, ‘Dark River’ which was released in 2018 among others.
Meet the Crew
Rob Bullock, Andy Harries and David Brown will be co- producing this upcoming series that is set to commence its shooting by January, next year. Rob Bullock is an executive producer at Left Bank Pictures and his works include, ‘The Night Manager’, ‘Strike Back’ and more. Andy Harris is a co-founder of Left Bank Pictures and is an established producer. David Brown is another known producer. Scotland is to serve as the series’ primary filming location.
Chandni Lakhani is rumored to join the production team while also composing the screenplay for ‘Department Q’. Chandni Lakhani is an emerging screenwriter whose works include, ‘Dublin Murders’ and ‘Vigil’ among others. Scott Frank is a popular artist who is also a recipient of several accolades. Some of his popular works are, ‘The Lookout’, ‘Godless’, ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ and ‘Minority Report’.
‘Department Q’ and Jussi Adler Olsen
‘Department Q’ was originally the prime focus of a crime novel series by Jussi Adler Olsen. Some of the books belonging to the Danish book series include, ‘Kvinden I Buret’, ‘Journal 64’ and ‘Marco Effekten’. Many of the books have been adapted to films such as ‘The Keeper of Lost Causes’, ‘A Conspiracy of Faith’ and more.
The upcoming adaptation will reportedly be streamed through Netflix.
