Here’s everything you need to know about RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16!
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 Renewal Update
At this time of writing, RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16 hasn’t officially been renewed, but given how successful the previous 15 seasons were, we can definitely expect a renewal.
This year, the American version of Drag Race not only debuted in several new international editions, such as those in Mexico and Brazil, but it also crowned two winners: Sasha Colby, who won season 15, and Jimbo, who won All Stars 8, a champion and former Drag Race competitor from Canada.
Sasha explained that her choice to lip-sync for the title in a nearly nude outfit was a calculated “f— you” to conservative politicians pushing anti-drag and anti-trans legislation across the nation in an exclusive interview with EW’s Quick Drag podcast after her win. This revelation led the series to collaborate with the ACLU to launch the Drag Defence Fund initiative.
Sasha Colby, the season 15 champion of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” for EW. THE METTIE OSTROWSKI
“Choosing to appear nude in these times was a deliberate decision. “With all of this legislation and everything going on, it is really powerful for me to represent Drag Race and such a large conglomerate like MTV and be exactly what [conservatives] want to eradicate,” Sasha, a trans activist and drag pageant legend, told EW at her coronation in April. I wanted to be nude because I knew that people were staring at me. My goal was to normalise this transgender physique.
