Movies and TV shows shot in Canada
Canada has a lot to offer for those who want to have a good time. For example, you can try your luck right now by betting on any match or league: before doing that, remember to use a bonus you can find on https://bettingoffersfinder.ca/. If you’re not into sports betting, you can also start watching a movie or TV show that was shot entirely in Canada: there are more than you think.
“There are a lot of iGaming products based on movies and shows shot in Canada,” says Tony Sloterman, product owner of Betting Offers Finder company. “This beautiful country has become Hollywood’s choice in recent years because of the many advantages it offers.” Well, have you ever wondered which are the most popular movies and shows shot in Canada? Below you can find the answer to this question.
Supernatural
On Supernatural, which lasted for 15 seasons, we witnessed the adventures of brothers Sam and Dean in the United States. For more than fifteen years, the two brothers traveled nearly every town in America and fought against ghosts and demons. But they had hardly ever been out of Canada, especially from Vancouver. Supernatural was shot almost entirely in Vancouver, British Columbia, and surrounding areas. The only exception is the pilot episode which was filmed in Los Angeles.
The Boys
The Boys is one of Amazon Prime’s most beloved series, and its showrunner is Eric Kripke, creator of Supernatural. Once again, the events in the series are set throughout the United States, but the show is filmed in Canada. The city shown as New York is actually Toronto, Ontario. The building depicted as Vought International company headquarters (“Seven Tower”) is Roy Thomson Hall in downtown Toronto, but with some digital effects added, of course. The places shown as Brooklyn streets are East York, and Toronto.
The Shape of Water
Filmed in 2017, The Shape of Water is an impressive Oscar-winning movie and is set in Baltimore, Maryland. However, the movie was shot in studios in Ontario from start to finish. The movie theatre you see in the film does indeed exist and is known as the Elgin & Winter Garden Theatres. Outdoor shoots generally took place in different parts of Toronto and Hamilton. All the buildings that remained in the background in these shots, showing that it was a different country than the US, were digitally erased from the film.
First Blood
If you think Hollywood has only recently started choosing Canada for filming, you’d be wrong: it’s been going on for a long time. Released in 1982, First Blood (the first movie in the Rambo franchise) was shot in Hope town in British Columbia. You can see almost all the buildings used in the movie even today, except for the “Outpost Gun Shop”, which was built specifically to be blown up. Do you remember the bridge at the beginning of the movie? It was dismantled in 2011, but almost everything else still stands as it was in the movie.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Eclipse, the last movie in the Twilight series, was set in Seattle, but filming was actually completed in different parts of Vancouver. The high school in the movie is David Thompson Secondary School. Most of the exterior shots were shot at Belcarra Regional Park in Port Moody. Do you remember the scene where newborn vampires emerge from the water? That’s Sasamat Lake. Minnekhada Regional Park was used for the fight scenes. Edward’s home is located at 118 Stevens Drive.
