Tim Story, who will reportedly helm the upcoming project, is developing a unique holiday flick titled “Dashing Through the Snow” with Disney, as per Deadline exclusive report with production already commencing in Atlanta.
According to the film’s official synopsis, the story “tells the story of a divorced social worker for the Atlanta Police Department who despises Christmas due to a painful childhood memory,” the synopsis reads. “When sent on a call while spending Christmas Eve with his daughter, he inadvertently evokes the wrath of a local politician but meets a man who helps him understand the joy and magic of Christmas.”
“Dashing Through the Snow” will star Oscar Nunez, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Ravi Patel, Teyonah Parris, Marcus Lewis and Madison Skye Validum.
As per reports by Deadline, the rapper turned actor Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and Lil Rel Howery are both set to star in the film, which is going to be helmed by Story, who will also serve as an executive producer and with the script being penned by Scott Rosenberg.
Ludacris’s schedule list is as hectic as it can be and just so you know “Dashing Through the Snow” isn’t the only film that the rapper/actor is currently filming. He’s also busy filming the 11th installment of the “Fast & Furious” franchise titled “Fast X”. His most recent work is Netflix’s horror thriller “End of the Road” starring opposite Queen Latifah which is releasing on September 9, 2022.
Surprisingly, the busy comedian/actor Lil Rel Howery who has a long list of schedules for multiple projects had space to film, as the actor is involved in several other projects this year such as “Spin Me Round,” “I Love My Dad,” “Deep Water,” “Luck,” and “Harold and the Purple Crayon” which are all due to be out in 2023.
Howery and Ludacris both expressed their excitement and celebrated the joyous occasion on social media. Howery wrote, “It’s an honor to play Santa Claus. Great cast and dope story. Stay tuned this one is going to be special for the whole family!!! #MovieMakingRel#DashingThroughTheSnow #Disney#WillPackerProductions.”
Conveying the Deadline report, Ludacris noted, “Black Santa Claus Is Coming To Town Next Xmas.” Meanwhile, Parris said, “I love the magic and warm fuzzy feelings that come when watching Holiday movies!! So excited to work on this film and with some dope folk!! Thank you!!”
With the story jotted down by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level), the upcoming holiday movie “Dashing Through the Snow” will be produced by Will Packer on behalf of Will Packer Productions and John Jacobs on behalf of Smart Entertainment. Meanwhile, Story, who is directing the movie, will also serve as an executive producer along with Johanna Byer, Ross Fanger, and Zac Unterman.
As of now, production is ongoing in Atlanta with the movie scheduled to release on Disney+ sometime next year. Although an official air date is yet to be announced it’s likely that the new movie will probably be out just around the next holiday season.
