Ali Abbasi’s upcoming project is rumored to be a thriller which will most likely premiere in 2024. Titled, ‘The Apprentice’, the film will be based in America and is contrarily called, ‘September Project’. Ali Abbasi is a renowned Iranian filmmaker whose film ‘Border’ gave him international stardom. The film premiered in 2018 with Eva Melander, Eero Milonoff and more in primary roles. Following its premiere, the film received positive reviews from critics, earning itself a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. ‘Border’ was set in Sweden and received several accolades. This was followed by his work in some of the episodes of the series, ‘The Last of Us’. ‘The Last of Us’ is a drama set in a post apocalyptic world, featuring actors, Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Anna Torv and more. Ali Abbas is also known for his other works such as ‘Holy Spider’ which premiered in 2022. Ali Abbas will be joining the crew for ‘The Apprentice’ as the film’s writer and director.
Omar El- Khairy will be co- writing the screenplay for the upcoming feature film alongside Ali Abbas. Fabula Pictures will be taking up the development of this upcoming feature film that will supposedly commence its filming by the end of November, this year. Fabula Pictures is a production company based in Italy. Louis Tisné and Juan de Dios Larraín will be joining the crew for the upcoming feature film as its producers. Louis Tisné was formerly a part of Ali Abbas’ ‘Border’, ‘Hungry Hearts’ which starred Adam Driver and Alba Rohrwacher, ‘The Eight Mountains’ which was well received upon its premiere in 2022, and more. Juan de Dios Larraín is known for a number of works such as, ‘Neruda’ which is a biopic on Pablo Neruda, ‘Ema’ which premiered as a musical drama, ‘El Conde’, a supernatural horror film and more.
‘The Apprentice’ has an approved SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement to continue casting and the production is predicted to wrap up by the end of January next year.
