It’s not known when The Incredibles 3 will come out since nothing is confirmed for now but given the huge gap between the release of the first and second movie, we’re optimistic that a third movie will happen despite the lack of information. However, we do know for a fact that it’ll probably take a few years until we finally get to see the movie.
What Is It About?
The Incredibles is an American animated superhero film created by Pixar Animation Studios that was released in 2004 and earned notable acclaim from critics and won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. In terms of box office collection, it collected over $630 million worldwide.
Following the success of the first film, the franchise expanded and released a second part of the film titled “Incredibles 2” which was released in 2018 and collected a whopping $1.245 billion worldwide against its budget of $200 million. Both the films were directed and written by Brad Bird and features Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Spencer Fox, Jason Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, and Elizabeth Peña in the first movie. Meanwhile the second film features Huckleberry Milner, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Jonathan Banks along with Nelson, Hunter, Vowell, and Jackson.
Let’s find out below whether or not the studios– Pixar and Disney have any plans in returning with a third part of the movie.
Is The Incredibles 3 In The Works?
John Walker, the franchise producer of Pixar Studio, shared his thoughts on the third installment of The Incredibles. “I wouldn’t ever rule it out, and if the past is prologue, it’ll be another 14 years — and a lot of people will probably need oxygen to make the third one,” John Walker told Entertainment Weekly.
He further explained, “There were a lot of ideas that we had on this film that could be [used]… whether it’s another The Incredibles film or something else”.
It appears that John Walker doesn’t want to rush things for making the third movie as he needs enough time to create something new and showcase it to the franchise fans.
Incredibles 3, the American computer-animated superhero film will be Pixar’s 34th animated feature and is scheduled to be theatrically released on June 16, 2028, by Disney Fandom. Now that we have a release date from Disney Fandom, we have a short relief. But you may also know that this is not an official declaration made from the maker’s end. The officials behind the production of the Incredibles franchise are yet to confirm the renewal and release date of the American computer-animated superhero film.
The Incredibles 3 Release Date: When is it?
First of all, the release date between the first movie “The Incredibles” and the second movie “The Incredibles 2” has a huge gap of fourteen years. But this doesn’t mean that we’ll have to wait another ten years for the third movie to be out.
The director and writer Brad Bird is not in a hurry to produce a threequel. “I would rather say I’m not closed to it, but it’s not on my mind,” he informed Deadline back in November 2018.
“It’s like, the last thing you want to do after swimming in the ocean for a month is go for a swim. I need to do something else for a while, and we’ll see what the future has in store,” Bird explained.
It’s highly doubtful that Pixar is ready for making another movie unless Bird was up for it and even if he has plans to produce a third movie, fans are expected to wait for sometime for an official announcement.

Will The Incredibles 3 return in 2023?
The long-awaited sequel of the film The Incredibles grossed a marvelous $1.24 B at the worldwide box office. The critical acclaim and audience response is fantastic. After the second instalment premiered; producer John Walker revealed that he “wouldn’t ever rule it out” that we could see a third movie. So, if that’s what it is, will The Incredibles 3 return in 2023? Will our excruciating wait end?
Well, as of January 2023, the film is yet to receive the greenlight for its third edition. But we expect it to be renewed sooner. We will update this space with any latest news as soon as it’s available. Until then, stay connected with us!
What could The Incredibles 3 plot be about?
In the previous instalments we saw Bird’s reluctance to age literally anyone up. In the third season, we can expect a time jump with baby Jack-Jack. He would potentially be leaning towards the dark side. Disney always seemed to think that Bird would be good at Star Wars stuff. And well, fans love it too so why not.
One aspect that the plot for the third film could be is the return of the Underminer. Both the 2004 original and sequel (in a 2D cameo), the minor villain was featured. In fact, it’s just his drill going across the screen. But Bird confirmed this means the character, who escaped, is out there roaming free: “The Underminer escapes. Sometimes the bad guys get away with it. Just like real life.”
Bird also revealed to EW that there were several ideas that they wanted to implement. But the changed production timeline couldn’t fit them in.
“They took a year off our schedule, so if an idea didn’t work quickly, you had to just kill the darling and move onto the next. And I killed like a city full of darlings,” he explained.
“We storyboarded, and we designed characters, and they’re really good! Some of them were really funny and cool and explored certain things… You know, you never say never, because there might be an opportunity to use it.”
The Incredibles Ending Explained
The Incredibles prepare to combat the Underminer as he approaches City Hall, grounds buildings, and robs the city bank. Violet’s love interest, Tony Rydinger, discovers her superhero identity while Violet and Dash are supposed to supervise Jack-Jack, causing agent Rick Dicker to delete his memory. After stealing a lot of money from the bank, the Underminer escapes in his tunneling machine, leaving the Incredibles and Frozone (Lucius Best) to stop his drill machine from destroying City Hall.
Although successful, the Incredibles are arrested for breaking the anti-super law. The Incredibles and Frozone prevented the Underminer’s drill from causing additional property damage, but officials are more worried about the damage. After fighting the underminer, Dicker notifies the Parr family that his Super Relocation department is closing. This forces supers to keep their identities concealed again.
Helen (Elastigirl) argues against fighting crime at dinner because it’s unlawful, while the others, excluding Jack-Jack, believe that it’s right. Lucius meets Bob (Mr. Incredible) and Helen by the pool and tells them a mysterious man offers to amend the Supers rule. Helen and Bob depart the motel with Lucius.
The three Incredibles are driven to Devtech, a famous telecommunications corporation run by Winston Deavor and his sister Evelyn, who wants the Super Relocation Program canceled too. Winston suggests putting up missions and media stunts to boost the superheroes’ popularity when Bob, Helen, and Lucius come. Elastigirl agrees to join him because he’s the least destructive of the three. Winston gives the Parrs a new home and Elastigirl a new suit and bike as thanks, leaving Mr. Incredible and the kids to start her first mission. We might see the series continue the storyline in season 3.
