Are you ready for a fluffy experience? The upcoming animated movie is one of the most anticipated movies to look forward to. Taking the directing chair is an Academy Award winner Domee shi who was the first-ever woman director of a Pixar short feature film “Bao.”
It was confirmed in November 2018 by director Domee Shi that she was working on an unspecified movie at the studio. She also gave us a major detail that the movie was currently in the initial stages of development.
The upcoming Pixar movie “Turning Red” centres around a 13-year-old girl who transforms into a ginormous red panda whenever she gets extremely overjoyed. This unusual phenomenon is caused by the young girl’s uncontrollable demeanour which most of the time gets her into an awkward situation. Turning Red Release Date: When is it arriving?
It appears that the movie initial release date was hindered by the ongoing pandemic and later pushed back to March 11, 2022 release. It’s nearly a year since Disney and Pixar premiered their last movie. This came as a surprise for many fans as Pixar is known for continuously delivering hit animated movies like “Soul” and “Luca.”
However, fans can not help but get worried if there are more delays in the future? Fret not, the studios have affirmed us and provided us with a specific release date so chances for more delays seems impossible. To make up for the times lost, the studios and filmmakers are working extra hard and everything has been running smoothly that includes Turning Red— the much-anticipated film.
The Cast
As of now, there are only two confirmed cast members for the upcoming movie. It’s not known whether there will be more characters introduced later on and the voices behind these characters.
-Rosalie Chiang will be voicing Meilin “Mei” Lee, a 13-year-old girl who can unexpectedly transform into a giant red panda whenever she gets excited or intensified.
-Sandra Oh will be voicing Ming Lee, Mei’s mother.
Turning Red Plot: What’s to expect from the story?
Back in January 1, 2019, female director, Domee Shi explained that her whole plan for the movie is to be “entertaining and emotional.”
The plot details for the upcoming has not been revealed much but the official synopsis of Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red is out. It reads: “The story is set during the 2000s, Mei Lee (voiced by Rosalie Chiang) is a confident thirteen-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl who is torn between staying with her overprotective mother, Ming Lee’s (Sandra Oh) obedient daughter and the chaos of adolescence. And, as if changes to her interests, relationships, and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited or stressed, she becomes a giant red panda.”
In July 2021, Pixar also released the trailer for the upcoming movie in which the writer/director Domee Shi interpreted the character remarkably. Seeing her work, many praised her for her outstanding job on the film.
The director also teased how we all turn red when one gets mad. She also wanted to portray the girl’s character especially in how she tries to tackle her anxiety issues. The director shows us that growing up as a teenager is by no means easy when you have frequent anger explosions.
For the story of Turning Red to have a more realistic feeling, the director worked carefully on every detail of what each character need in their day to day life. There’s definitely more to this story and we can’t wait to find out.
