A new feature film is reportedly under development which will feature the attempt of a pair of twin brothers in reconciling their relationship with their estranged father after his time in the prison. Taken up under Apatow Productions, the project is titled as, ‘Double Up’ and is rumored to cast the Lucas Brothers. Apatow Productions is a production company that was founded by the popular filmmaker Judd Apatow. They are primarily known for their comedies such as ‘Knocked Up’ which starred Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl, ‘Superbad’ which premiered in 2007 and was directed by Greg Mottola, ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ which premiered in 2008, ‘Bridesmaids’ which starred Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph and more, ‘Trainwreck’ which premiered in 2015 and ‘Pineapple Express’ which was directed by David Gordon Green, to name a few.
The genre of the upcoming feature film is not yet known. However, it is predicted to resemble the other works produced under Apatow Productions and with Judd Apatow joining the crew for the upcoming feature film, it is predicted to be an enthralling entertainer. As for the potential cast members of ‘Double Up’, Keith Lucas and Kenny Lucas (the Lucas Brothers) are a comedic sibling duo who are popular for their works ‘Lucas Bros. Moving Co.’, ‘Friends of the People’ and more which they co- created. Their other works include, ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ which premiered in 2021 and ’22 Jump Street’ which is the sequel to ’21 Jump Street’ and starred Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube.
Greg Mottola to Direct ‘Double Up’
‘Double Up’ is predicted to commence its filming soon and will potentially be directed by Greg Mottola. Greg Mottola recently directed the mystery comedy ‘Confess, Fletch’ which premiered in 2022. Known as both a filmmaker and screenwriter, the other works of Greg Mottola include, ‘Keeping Up with the Joneses’ which starred Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher, ‘Clear History’ which premiered in 2013 and more.
Contributing to the screenplay for ‘Double Up’ are the Lucas brothers alongside Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel. Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel are known screenwriters who primarily compose comedies such as ‘Huge in France’ which premiered in 2019, ‘The D Train’ which premiered in 2015 and ‘The Grinder’ which received a rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The production crew for the film consists of Josh Church and Barry Mendel who will be joining Judd Apatow for its development. Josh Church is an executive producer at Apatow Productions. Barry Mendel is another known producer who has previously worked with Judd Apatow on ‘Trainwreak’, among others.
