Fans were astounded when they first learned that Mark Ruffalo will be playing the father of Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming flick “The Adam Project” when in real life there’s not much of an age gap difference between these two Hollywood stars and we’re just as curious as you are about this much-anticipated movie. What is The Adam Project About?
The Adam Project is a forthcoming American action sci-fi flick set to be released on Netflix. The movie is helmed by Shawn Levy and penned by Jonathan Tropper along with T.S. Nowlin, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett.
The Adam Project story revolves around Ryan Reynolds who must drift back in time to join with his adult self and work together, to search for their father (played by Mark Ruffalo) who has important information to protect the world.
In an interview with Tropper via Collider, he said, “To me, the time was just a device. The movie is not a hardcore sci-fi time travel movie. It’s a movie about people.” He further explained, “for me, it was more about the characters and the story of this boy who’s lost his father and is trying to come to terms with what that means, through a really interesting adventure. I’m never gonna write a Christopher Nolan-type movie about time travel. That wouldn’t interest me. For me, it’s more about finding that story that appeals to the little kid in all of us.”
When is “The Adam Project” releasing?
We know that filming has wrapped. On March 4, 2021, star Ryan Reynolds shared a post on his Instagram handle informing his fans that the upcoming movie has finished shooting. Check out the post below:
As of now, the exact release date is not out yet but The Adam Project is set to release in early 2022.
According to Shawn Levy via Collider, he said, “You’re going to see a trailer this year, without question, you’re going to see the movie on Netflix in the first quarter of next year. [Ryan and I] are really excited about this one. It is basically what if you could go back in time and befriend your 12-year-old self and your parents whose age you currently are. So it’s Ryan Reynolds going back to now 2021/22 meeting his 12-year-old self and Mark Ruffalo and Jen Garner, who is his mom and dad.”
The Cast
The Adam Project will bring many well-known faces. Joining Ryan Reynolds are Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, Catherine Keener, Alex Mallari Jr, and Walker Scobell who’ll be playing the younger version of Reynolds.
The Plot: What to expect from the story of “The Adam Project”?
Plot details for the upcoming movie is scarce but we have some bits of information revealed by the director himself. Shawn Levy expressed that “The Adam Project” produces on a huge budget action-adventure movie, it will also focus on father and son kind of like stories.
“Obviously there’s a load of action and really all the things we want from a time travel adventure movie, but it’s ultimately very much a descendant of Frequency and Field of Dreams. And the fun of it is very much kind of Back to the Future-inspired, but the heart of it is more Frequency and Field of Dreams. Because imagine if you could go and have empathy for your parents now that you know what you know as an adult. Imagine being able to tell your kid self, ‘Yo buddy, you’re going to be okay. You’re going to be okay.’ It literally gives me goosebumps because this is a fundamental human journey. And this Jonathan Tropper screenplay taps into that yearning, but in the vessel of just rad big-budget action-adventure.”

It was previously announced that Netflix had disclosed a teaser trailer for all it’s big forthcoming films in 2022, which also include a few clips from the Adam Project. Later, the exact clip was shared by Netflix Geeked on its official Twitter account, declaring the project and teasing at the short premise of the movie.

The clip from the movie ensures us that the upcoming movie The Adam Project will have some action and adventures featuring some of the coolest gadgets you’ve probably ever seen. Adam (Ryan Reynolds) bought these cool weapons from the future, what appears to be a time machine.
