Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2 was initially supposed to be released at the end of 2020 for the next generation gaming series for Xbox and while gamers were eagerly waiting for the highly anticipated game, Ninja Theory kept a tight-lipped for almost a year with no update regarding Hellblade 2.
Hellblade 2 will be set in 9th century Iceland just like the original game. The sequel to Hellblade is going to be “real and brutal” as it is based on the real world and includes scenes that the development team obtained. The development diary also disclosed that Senua would embark on a long journey across the country.

In the development diary, Ninja Theory discussed in detail their visitations to multiple locations in Iceland and an effort to duplicate those locations that appear realistically to the eyes in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
What is the game about?
The previous game entirely centred on Senua overcoming the losses and accepting herself and coming to an agreement with the demons. We assume that Hellblade 2 will focus on her journey and how she deals with her overbearing personality i.e. psychosis.
We’re also expecting the tale of Senua in Hellblade 2 will get her revenge on the Norsemen who slain Dillion.
Who is Senua in Hellblade?
Senua is a bloodthirsty warrior played by Melina Juergens. She’s also the video editor at Ninja Theory. Her role as Senua in Hellblade has received notable acclaim as Juergens has won BAFTA and Game Award for her excellence performance.
In Hellblade, she will once again appear as Senua, the warrior who will explore Iceland.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 release date: When is it?
Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2 doesn’t have a specific release date although the game was announced way back in 2019.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is revealed! We couldn’t be more thrilled to support Ninja Theory in continuing the story of Senua, one of the most impactful and authentic digital humans ever made. #UE4 https://t.co/E2xkzFgqx3

The game was originally set for a release in 2020 and with no further information the game developers went quiet for almost a year, no update was provided. It’s highly unlikely that we’ll get the game in the 2021 release but somewhere in 2022 probably towards the end.
In January 2021, a post was published that read: “Hey, what else can we put out?” “How about Hellblade 2?”
The game was announced as an Xbox exclusive back in 2019 at the Game Awards and ever since then we haven’t really heard much of the game.
We could expect a release maybe at the end of 2022. That’s all we have at the moment. We hope that the game developers make an official announcement as soon as possible and also provide us with the official launch date of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2- Is it Xbox exclusive?
Yes, Hellblade 2 will be Xbox exclusives. According to Xbox, “The team will be building the game on Unreal 5 and leveraging the power of Xbox Series X to bring the Hellblade franchise to levels never before seen.” They also added that the footage of the game, Hellblade 2 displayed during The Game Awards in 2019 “was captured in-engine and reflects the power of Xbox Series X available to developers to deliver new universes, experiences and games in ways you have never imagined.”
The one thing that we understood from E321 is that Xbox will use their first-party portfolio as it is. Every title for each studio moving forward, the exclusives will be available only for a limited time or it may be wholly exclusive to the Xbox Series X and S also will be released on PC.
