Cheaper by the Dozen released back in 2003 is an American family comedy movie helmed by Shawn Levy. It stars the likes of Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt who portrayed their role as a married couple. When the first movie was released on December 25, 2003, by 20th Century Fox, it was a box office hit collecting over $190 million across the globe against a budget of $40 million. However, the movie received critical reviews. For instance, The Rotten Tomatoes bestowed heavy criticism for its inadequacy of humour.
In 2005, a sequel to the original movie was released in the US on December 21, 2005, directed by Adam Shankman and starring Steve Marin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff, Alyson Stoner, Piper Perabo, and Tom Welling. The movie managed to collect $135 million across the globe against a budget of $60 million.
The original movie is a remake of the movie of the exact title which was released in 1950 directed by Walter Lang, featuring Clifton Webb and Myrna Loy as the married couple and parents to 12 kids. That movie was actually inspired by the semi-autobiographical book in 1948 by siblings Frank Bunker Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey who wrote about their memories and how they were raised by their parents with ten other siblings.
It was confirmed that a third movie of Cheaper by the Dozen is in development for Disney+ starring Zack Barff and Gabrielle Union who will be portraying the married couple. The upcoming movie will be inscribed by Kenya Barris and Jenifer Rice-Genzuk Henry serving as the executive producer. Ever since the casting announcement of Zach Barf and Gabrielle Union, several other details have been disclosed as well. Here’s what we know about the upcoming movie.
Release Date of Cheaper by the Dozen 3: When is it?
Currently, the official release date for Cheaper by the Dozen 3 is not confirmed yet.
In recent news regarding the upcoming movie, it was reported that filming commenced this summer. However, there is not a single update if shooting for the new film has been completed. On IMDb, it says that the upcoming reboot is in post-production. So chances are the filming has wrapped.
If we have to assume, it’s likely that Cheaper by the Dozen 3 won’t arrive until mid-2022.
The Cast of Cheaper by the Dozen 3: Who will be in it?
According to the official announcement, Gabrielle Union and Zach Barf will portray the married couple and parents of a big family.
Per the original announcement, Gabrielle Union and Zach Braff will play the married couple at the head of the huge family. Meanwhile, Deadline reported that the stars playing the children were confirmed in February 2021. They are; Kylie Rogers, Journee Brown, Andre Robinson, Aryan Simhadri, Caylee Blosenski, Leo A. Perry, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Sebastian Cote, Christian Cote, and Luke Prael.

Cheaper by the Dozen 3 Plot: Expectations
Plot details are scarce and till now we haven’t heard a single word from the production team.
Also, we do know that the forthcoming reboot will follow the same concept as the previous two movies although there might be some slight changes. The other important thing is that the wedded couple will have 10 kids rather than dealing with 12 kids as in the original movie. Seemingly, the movie title will apply to the whole family of 12 including the parents. It’s expected that the movie will be as chaotic and disorganized as we witnessed in the original film.
The reboot will bring us a racially mixed family rather than a blood-related family which we’ve already seen in the previous movies. The upcoming movie will be set in modern times. The official synopsis indicates that the family comedy movie will revolve around the family of twelve as they carry on with their daily lives and “a hectic home life while managing their family business,” Variety reported. Presently, there’s no official confirmation regarding the characters of the upcoming family comedy movie. Stay tuned for more updates.
