Fans who have binge-watched both seasons 1 & 2 are now clamouring for the third season of Sky Rojo. It was expected that the third season would arrive by September 2021 but unfortunately, that didn’t happen although it seems like the team is gearing up for the next season.

About the show

Sky Rojo is a Spanish crime drama TV series, created by Álex Pina alongside Esther Martínez Lobato. The series follows three prostitutes who run away from their abusive pimps. According to the creators of this show, the series illustrates “the impunity, ambiguity and brutal reality of prostitution, and the psychological portraits of those on both sides of the scale.”

Sky Rojo season 3: Is it happening?

Sky Rojo has two seasons with a total of 16 episodes. Both the seasons were released in the same year. The first season was released on March 19, 2021, and the second season on July 23 2021. 

As per speculations, it was previously speculated that the third season would be released by the end of 2021 but that did not happen and third season is still yet to be released. So far Netflix hasn’t provided any official announcement but many are speculating that based on the ending of the second season, the story could prolong further.

In an interview with co-creator Alex Pina, he said, “Of course, the characters could go a long way and that is in the end what determines if you have another season or not. It’s the character design. The story at the end is the least of it”.

Sky Rojo Season 3 Release Date

Currently, there’s no release date available for Sky Rojo season 3. Fans have to wait patiently until the streamer finally comes up with an official announcement. 

Both seasons 1 and 2 were filmed continuously and were released just a few months apart. However, it is feasible that the upcoming season needs more time to prepare the script, film and edit.

Previously, RadioTimes.com, predicted that Sky Rojo season 3 won’t be available for streaming until March 2022 and again it wasn’t an accurate one.

The most recent one as per rumors circulating on the internet is that the third season of Sky Rojo is set for November 25, 2022. Let’s wait and fine out how this one goes.

Sky Rojo Season 3 Plot: What to expect?

Plot details are not known nor did the creators have revealed any. However, the ending of the second season implies that there’s more to the story. In the final moments of the previous season,  the three women were seen escaping the island on a cruise. In the upcoming season, the story will pick up from where it left off, which means Moises will likely team up with Romeo to find Coral, Gina and Wendy and get his revenge for killing his brother Christian. 

If the third season happens, the story will proceed with the hunt of the three girls. Will the trio’s newly found freedom be short-lived? We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the upcoming season.

As of May 2022, there isn’t much that we heard from the showrunner although we know that a third season is coming out soon, the official release date has not been revealed yet.
