After the debut season of Shield Hero, it has literally not shielded the fans of impatience awaiting the release of season 2. Duh, ever since the first season hit the screens, the fandom has gone crazy waiting for its renewal. However, the fundamental question is: will the show even get a renewal? Shield Hero is a Japanese dark anime series that aired back in 2019. The show is adapted from the light novels, and it’s been in the limelight ever since it debuted! After the first season was released, the makers revealed that the second and third seasons will be released shortly after (via Crunchyroll Expo). However, it’s 2022 and we still haven’t received any information. It was also announced that Masato Jinno will replace Takao Abo as director – and that the rest of the star cast will return.
Shield Hero anime series did receive a positive response from the audiences and the critics. Fans are now screaming and yelling as to when The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 is supposed to wind around. But before that, let’s give y’all a little wrap up about the first season of Shield Hero.
Shield Hero: Season 1 plot wrap up
Season 1 focused on the central character’s (Naofumi Iwatami) life as he goes into some parallel world and is equipped with a weapon. He is chosen as one of the cardinal heroes and is given a Legendary shield as his weapon. Naofumi and other of his comrades need to fight groups of monsters, known as Waves. However, Naofumi’s life goes topsy turvy as he is robbed of his belongings – and falsely accused of sexual assault by his partner. Thus, he needs to go the extra mile by not just fighting hordes of monsters but rebuilding his reputation. The plot was much appreciated and loved by all.
When’s the release date of Shield Hero season 2?
The makers of the show have already made an official announcement concerning that seasons 2 and 3 of Shield Hero will be released. However, they did say (during “Kadokawa Light Novel Expo 2020”) that the second instalment will hit the screens by the end of 2021. Well, it’s next year and we still haven’t received any official confirmation on the release date. While some reputed websites did mention a release date, there hasn’t been an official notice by the show developers.
Owing to the current Covid situation, the release dates of all web series and TV shows seem to be in jeopardy. We get how exciting fans are right after the debut of the first season (in 2019), we cannot help but wait. Consequently, we reckon that the release date of Shield Hero season 2 is postponed to April 2022 (via Anime News Network). The website, however, didn’t deliver any specific reason for the delay. However, according to HITC, the delay may be “related to the ongoing issues with production in Japan caused by the pandemic.”

The director of Shield Hero reveals that Naofumi, Raphtalia, and Filo will try to save the world from the Waves (monsters). They also teased the audience by asserting that Naofumi and his comrades will have to face bigger challenges in the next season. There will be an enemy (a Giant Spirit Turtle) that the cardinal heroes have to conquer. In the next season, we’ll also witness how Naofumi tries to rebuild his reputation.
