From her three marriages, Kate Winslet has three kids, a daughter and two sons. Kate’s daughter Mia Threapleton is her eldest child with ex-husband Jim Threapleton. Her eldest son Joe Mendes is fathered by her ex-husband Sam Mendes.
Although, Bear Blaze Winslet is her youngest son with husband Edward Abel Smith. When Bear Blaze Winslet was named and it was announced publicly. Many were left amazed with the name of Kate’s youngest child. The unique name Kate chose for her baby was later decoded by the actress on a talk show.

On why she chose to name her youngest son, Bear Blaze Winslet, Kate had shared on The Ellen DeGeneres show. For the first name of her youngest child to name him “Bear”, Kate told Ellen as “A friend of mine when I was younger was nicknamed Bear, and i just had always really loved it.”
She added “He was very much a bear. He was everyone’s shoulder to cry on, he was a big bear hug, he was just this great figure in my life, and i just always remembered him.” So, the inspiration of the name came somewhere from her friend she talked about.
Meanwhile, about the middle name of Bear as “Blaze” Kate recalled about the incident that happened in 2011 when she escaped a house that caught fire while on vacation in the Carribbean. About which she said as “The house burned down and we survived.”
She added “But we wanted something of the fire, and so Blaze was the name that we came up with.” Kate even answered why she gave her own maiden name to Bear. When she was asked why Bear didn’t have her father’s surname, Kate asked “Why do you think, Ellen?
Kate told recalling about the earthquake that hit when she was pumping milk. She told “I’m pumping, staring at my beautiful picture of my beautiful baby boy, and my husband’s on the other line, and the room starts to shake.” Though she and a friend of her went to a door frame to protect themselves, Kate was still pumping.
Talking of the same Kate proudly said “You know us girls, we just do it, don’t we?. She added “When you do it, you just do it?”. Not to forget, Kate shares Bear Blaze Winslet with her husband Ned Rocknroll (aka Edward Abel Smith).
