OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) has declared openly two original Christmas films scheduled for a holiday release.
The upcoming film “The Great Holiday Bake War” stars LeToya Luckett and Finesse Mitchell. The film is set to premiere on Saturday, December 3, 2023.
The official logline for “The Great Holiday Bake War” reads, quote, “when former pastry school rivals Julian (Mitchell) and Brianna (Luckett) meet years later in a TV baking competition, the sparks – and the flour – fly! Each has their own strategies for the winning prize money, but only one can win…unless they work together. While Brianna stumbles to support her daughter Willow (Naomi Sogbein) and Julian longs to escape his mother’s shadow, they learn that collaboration can create a new recipe for success – and love.”
Produced for OWN by MarVista Entertainment in partnership with Harpo Films. “The Great Holiday Bake War” is executive produced by Carla Gardini, Neshama Entertainment’s Arnie Zipursky and Suzanne Berger, and Megan Ellstrom, Larry Grimaldi, Hannah Pillemer and Fernando Szew for MarVista Entertainment. LeToya Luckett is a singer and actress. She gained her reputation in the late 1990s as a founding member of the popular R&B girl band Destiny’s Child and is one of the world’s best-selling girl bands of all time. During her time in the group, she accomplished four US Top ten hit singles such as “No, No, No”, “Bills, Bills, Bills”, “Say My Name” and “Jumpin’, Jumpin'”, in which she won two Grammys. She began her solo journey in the early 2000s after departing from the band and signed a deal with Capitol Records. She debuted her self-titled album LeToya in 2006, and entered the top one in the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. That same year, the album was certified platinum by the RIAA.
Despite her incredible musical background, she has since then become an actress. She had a lead role in the film “Preacher’s Kid.” Luckett was also featured in the films “Killers” and “From the Rough.” She starred in the second season of “Treme,” and in the third season of “Single Ladies.” Luckett appeared in a recurring role in the series “Greenleaf.”
However, in 2017 she returned to singing, launching her third studio album titled, “Back 2 Life,” her first single reached at the top four on the U.S. Independent albums chart. The album entered the chart with two singles—”Back 2 Life” and “Used To”. She has since then sold more than 25 million records as a member of Destiny’s Child on their first two albums and singles.
