A new Mexican black comedy is reportedly under production and is supposedly starring Erika Buenfil and Marimar Vega in lead roles. Titled as, ‘Bienvenidos a la Familia’, the series will follow two single and erratic mothers Cristina and Luciana who are done with their misfortunes in life. It is with this setting that the series begins. Soon the complication arises when in a family dispute, Cristina’s father, and Luciana’s current husband, Gonzalo (who is nicknamed as “the tyrant”) falls dead in front of them. The unexpected occurrence now puts the two woman in the suspects list and must join forces and put their differences aside to hide the body, and forge the will. Except, their plan is not fool proof with the looming threat of the gossipy neighbor, a lovesick cop, and a psychotic ex-football coach finding out that Gonzalo is dead through their peculiarly timed intrusion.
Erika Buenfil is a popular actress who is known for her works, ‘Vencer el pasado’ which premiered in 2021, ‘Perdona nuestros pecados’ in which she played the role of Estella Cacéres, ‘Amores verdaderos’ which was produced by J. Antonio Arvizú, ‘Amor en silencio’ which premiered in 1988 as a drama and more. Marimar Vega is another established actress whose works include, ‘Pact of Silence’ which premiered in 2023, ‘El juego de las llaves’ starring Ela Velden, Maite Perroni, Fabiola Campomanes and more, ‘Silvana sin lana’ which ran for a season and ‘Love of My Loves’ which was directed by Manolo Caro, to name a few.

Mark Alazraki & Silvia Ortega will be collaborating for the upcoming series in composing its screenplay. Mark Alazraki is a popular artist whose works include, ‘The Ballad of Hugo Sánchez’ which premiered in 2018, ‘A Not So Merry Christmas’ starring, Romina Poza and Ana Brenda Contreras, ‘We are the Nobles’ for which he composed the screenplay and ‘Mentada de Padre’ which premiered in 2019. Silvia Ortega is an emerging writer. Additionally, Mark Alazraki & Silvia Ortega will be co- directing the upcoming series.
Our sources suggest that, ‘Bienvenidos a la Familia’ will premiere on Netflix possibly in the following year. The filming for the upcoming series will commence in December while the predicted end for shooting being sometime in February, next year. The development of ‘Bienvenidos a la Familia’ is being taken up under Alazraki Entertainment, a known production company. Screenwriter Leonardo Padrón (The Marked Heart), producer Mark Alazraki (Club de Cuervos), directors Ernesto Contreras (Where the Tracks End), Klych López (Fake Profile), and Gracia Querejeta (The Invisible) will enthrall us with these series that begin production in Mexico this year.
