Aquarius Films and Subotica Entertainment are rumored to be collaborating for an new project titled as, ‘Mixtape’ which will potentially be directed by Lucy Gaffy. Aquarius Films is a known production company based in Australia whose works include, ‘Dirt Music’ which premiered in 2019, ‘Lion’ which was directed by Garth Davis and more. Subotica Entertainment is a production company based in Ireland whose works include, ‘The Other Lamb’ a horror drama, ‘Terminal’ starring Margot Robbie and more, ‘Michael Inside’ which premiered in 2017 and ‘Young Ones’ which was directed by Jake Paltrow. The upcoming series is supposedly a romance set in the 80s and will follow two teenagers who form a connection through music.
As of now, the filming of ‘Mixtape’ will potentially commence by January, 2024 with Australia and Dublin, Ireland, serving as the primary locations for the series. Lucy Gaffy, the possible director for the upcoming series is a known artist whose works include, ‘The Spa’ which premiered in 2016, ‘Here Out West’ a drama which premiered in 2014, ‘The Love Song of Iskra Prufrock’ which she wrote/ directed, and more. Additionally, she is also a recipient of numerous accolades. Jo Spain will most likely compose the screenplay for the upcoming series while also serving as its co- producer. Jo Spain is primarily known as an author and some of her books are, ‘The Perfect Lie’ which was published in 2021, ‘Dirty Little Secrets: A Gripping Thriller of Lies, Privilege, Secrets and Betrayal’, ‘With Our Blessing: An Inspector Tom Reynolds Mystery’ and more.

Angie Fielder, Polly Staniford, Aoife O’Sullivan, Tristan Orpen Lynch, Alison Hurbert-Burns, Lana Greenhalgh, Miranda Culley and Clare Mirabello will possibly be joining the crew for the upcoming series as its producers. Angie Fielder and Polly Staniford are co- founders and partners at Aquarius Films. Aoife O’Sullivan is an emerging producer. Tristan Orpen Lynch is the founder of Subotica Entertainment. Miranda Culley is a known producer. Clare Mirabello, Alison Hurbert-Burns and Lana Greenhalgh are surfacing producers.
The upcoming series is set during 1989 in Sheffield, England where an all-encompassing romance between teenagers Daniel and Alison begin to blossom. As they transcend into modern-day adult relationships, they find a connection through the music of their generation despite living on opposite sides of the world. This new chapter begins for Daniel and Alison when they reconnect through a song from their shared past and explore what the meaning is behind love, and life, and its presence they were meant to have.
