Will TNT renew ‘The Alienist’ for a season 3?
The Alienist is an American psychological thriller television series airing on TNT that is based on the novel of the same name by Caleb Carr. The series has two seasons so far. It was first premiered on January 21, 2018, with a total of 10 episodes, the second season, ‘Angel of Darkness was premiered on July 19, 2020, with a total of 8 episodes.
In terms of rating, The Alienist second season made it on the list of commendable series with just an average rating of 6.8/10 and a rating of 67% on Rotten Tomatoes. Although the series grew in popularity, the series’ second season’s rating was much lower than expected. If we have to compare it to season one, it was down by 50% of the viewership on season 2. The Alienist Season 3: Renewed or Canceled?
Fans of The Alienist have been curious about the series comeback. It has been two years since the previous season aired and till now there are no official announcements regarding the return of season 3.
As far as the third season is concerned, it has neither been cancelled nor renewed by TNT. It has not been confirmed yet either. But if you look at the series Wikipedia page, it mentions the date from January 21, 2018, to August 9, 2020, indicating that the the show has indeed ended perhaps?
However, there are some hints that the third season might be returning, including the stars and crew.
In a chat with Collider, Luke Evans( as John Moore) told the publication that he would like to continue playing the character in the series.
He told: “They all have the potential to carry a storyline again, further and further – some other story, some other plot, some other twist, some other murder, some other sinister subject matter. I love playing John. If that happened, then yeah, it’d be great.”
Thus at the moment, fans will have to sit back and wait patiently and see what’s coming for the show in the near future.
The Alienist Season 3 Release Date
Since there are no official announcements, it’s extremely difficult to tell about the possible release date of the series season 3.
It was expected that the third season would be out by mid-2021 but that did not happen. So if we have to come down with a precise calculation, we might get the third season probably towards the end of 2022.
