This upcoming series is supposedly an action drama on the personal and professional lives of the heavy-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O’ahu, Hawaii. Titled as, ‘Rescue: HI-Surf’, the series is being taken up under John Wells Productions and Bumper Productions. John Wells Productions is a company based in Los Angeles. Their works include, ‘Maid’ a limited series that premiered on Netflix in 2021, ‘Animal Kingdom’ which ran for 6 seasons, ‘Shameless’ which starred Emmy Rossum, and more. Bumper Productions is an emerging company. Together, the two companies will be developing the upcoming project alongside Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment Studios. The series is alternatively titled as, ‘Ke Nui Road’.
Currently, ‘Rescue: HI-Surf’ is under development and is predicted to commence its filming by January, next year. Seeing as how the plot of the upcoming project is set in O’ahu, Hawaii, the place will be serving as its primary location. O’ahu, Hawaii has served as a location for a number of works of entertainment including, ‘Murder Mystery 2’ which premiered in 2023 as a sequel to the original film starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, ‘Aloha’ which premiered in 2015 and ‘The Wrong Missy’ which was directed by Tyler Spindel and premiered in 2020. The beatiful landscape of the place is guaranteed to peak the interest of the viewers of ‘Rescue: HI-Surf’. The upcoming series is rumored to air on Fox, a popular American broadcasting company.
John Wells to Direct ‘Rescue: HI-Surf’
John Wells, the founder of John Wells Productions and a known artist will be directing the upcoming series while also serving as its co- producer. John Wells is known as a writer, producer and director and a recipient of numerous accolades. Joining John Wells as the producers for the upcoming project are Erin Jontow and Matt Kester. Erin Jontow is the President of TV at John Wells Productions and played an active role in the company’s productions, ‘Maid’, ‘Animal Kingdom’ and ‘Shameless’. Matt Kester is an emerging artist and his works include, ‘Outsiders’ which ran for 2 seasons, ‘Forever’ which premiered in 2014 and more. Also, he was a part of John Wells Productions’ ‘Animal Kingdom’. For the upcoming series, Matt Kester will be composing its screenplay. Other additions to the crew include, Joseph Incaprera, Shamess Shute, Leslie Woo and Rachel Whitley.
‘Rescue: HI-Surf’ will have its episodes featuring a dedicated, heroic, and adrenaline-seeking lifeguards who thrive in the difficult and often life-threatening conditions of Hawaii’s Seven Mile Miracle while saving multiple lives.
