Jenny Tian is heading to Toronto. Live Nation Ontario announced on X that the Australian comedian will play the Paradise Theatre on January 16, 2027, with tickets on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
“JUST ANNOUNCED,” the promoter’s post read — caps lock doing the heavy lifting for a date that lands in the dead of the following winter.
It’s an apt room for the booking. The Paradise, at 1006 Bloor Street West, opened as a movie house in 1937, sat dark for years, and reopened in 2019 after a restoration that turned the Art Deco space into one of the city’s better mid-size live venues.
Tian’s rise has come mostly through screens rather than the traditional club circuit. She’s a Taskmaster Australia alumnus whose following was built on character bits and stand-up clips, and the past year has been about converting that audience into theatre seats.
After a US tour, she brought a new hour, When Life Gives You Oranges, home in April — three nights at Brisbane’s Princess Theatre and a single May 9 date at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre. Directed by Justin Hamilton, the show unpacks a 2023 romance Tian was convinced would end in marriage. It didn’t. “Phew!” the Enmore listing adds.
Whether the Toronto gig is that show or something newer, Live Nation Ontario didn’t say. The post carried a date, a venue and an on-sale time, and nothing more.
The Australian run was small on purpose, and Toronto is a similar bet: a single night in a room that rewards word of mouth, months after the tour that built it.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. By the time Tian takes that stage, the Paradise will be closing in on its 90th year.
