The kingdom of Arendelle is thawing into action! Kristen Bell, the voice behind plucky Princess Anna, revealed that Frozen 3 voice recording begins “soon,” sending Disney fans into a frosty frenzy. Speaking at the Netflix premiere of Nobody Wants This Season 2 on October 16 at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre, Bell confirmed she’s pored over the script but hasn’t heard the new songs yet – building sky-high anticipation for the 2027 theatrical release.

“I’ve read the script, and it’s incredible,” Bell told Variety. “The process starts with big conceptual ideas that go through a thousand filters at Disney. That’s why these movies are so special – every detail is perfected.” While keeping plot specifics under wraps, she hinted at the franchise’s signature blend of sisterly bonds, epic quests, and earworm anthems, evolving from Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen” fairy tale.
Directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee – the Oscar-winning duo behind the originals – Frozen 3 reunites the star-studded cast: Idina Menzel as the ice-powered Queen Elsa, Jonathan Groff as rugged Kristoff, and Josh Gad as the endlessly optimistic snowman Olaf. Concept art unveiled at Disney’s D23 Expo in August 2024 depicted Elsa galloping on a majestic white horse and Anna riding a noble brown stag, teasing grander adventures beyond Arendelle’s borders. Will it delve deeper into the Enchanted Forest’s mysteries or introduce new magical realms? Fans are buzzing with theories.
The news lit up X, where @cosmic_marvel’s post quoting Bell garnered nearly 1,000 views overnight. “Finally! More Anna and Elsa magic,” one user gushed, while others speculated on ballads rivaling “Let It Go.” The 2013 original grossed $1.29 billion worldwide, snagging Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Original Song. Its 2019 sequel added $1.45 billion, proving the franchise’s billion-dollar chill.
Bell, 45, juggles Frozen duties with her rom-com series Nobody Wants This, premiering October 23 on Netflix alongside Adam Brody. She laughed off rumors of husband Dax Shepard joining the cast: “He’s a podcaster, not an actor!” Meanwhile, Menzel gears up for Broadway returns, and Gad voices Baymax in Big Hero 6 spin-offs.
As Disney’s animation slate heats up – with Moana 2 splashing into theaters November 2024 and Zootopia 2 in 2025 – Frozen 3 cements the studio’s animated dominance. Jennifer Lee, now Disney Animation chief, promises it’ll “surprise and delight” while honoring the sisters’ unbreakable bond.
For superfans, the wait is almost over. As Elsa might sing: The voice sessions are here. Let the recordings begin!
