This upcoming biopic will supposedly focus on the life of pot smuggler Stephen Kalish who is often referred to as “the Gentleman Smuggler”. Titled, ‘Sea of Greed’, the film will primarily narrate the events in Stephen Kalish’s life spanning from his high school times all the way till his eventual arrest wherein he repeatedly evaded the authorities. The film is an adaptation of the book titled, ‘Sea of Greed: The True Story of the Investigation and Prosecution of Manuel Antonio Noriega‘ by Douglas McCullough & Les Pendleton. The book was initially released in 2014 and featured U.S. attorney Doug McCullough in his pursuit of criminals, Stephen Kalish, Leigh Ritch, and also to Detroit drug dealer Michael Vogel which revealed the core to one of America’s biggest drug (marijuana) trafficking circles. Some of the other works of Les Pendleton include, ‘The Sea Les Traveled’, ‘Disintegration’ and ‘Treasure’.
The Crew for ‘Sea of Greed’
A large crew of creative artists is currently developing this upcoming feature film which will be taken up under Sprokefeller Pictures. Colby Jensen, Steven Kalish, Les Pendleton, Martin Sprock, Nathan Wheeler and Alex van Galen is predicted to join the film’s crew as the writers for ‘Sea of Greed’. Some of the works produced by Sprokefeller Pictures include, ‘The Comeback Trail’ starring Robert De Niro, Kate Katzman and Tommy Lee Jones, ‘Fatman’ starring Mel Gibson, Walton Goggins and more, ‘Line of Duty’ which was released in 2019 and more.
Dito Montiel is set to direct ‘Sea of Greed’ with producers, Patrick Hibler, Ryan R. Johnson, Martin Sprock, Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard, Charles Ison, Phil Kim and Patrick Muldoon additionally joining the crew. Dito Montiel is a known writer/ filmmaker who is popular for his works, ‘Empire State’ which featured Liam Hemsworth and Dwayne Johnson, ‘Man Down’ which starred Shia LaBeouf, Kate Mara, Gary Oldman and more, ‘Boulevard’ featuring Robin Williams and more. Some of Dito Montiel’s books include ‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints’ and ‘The Story of Milk’.
Patrick Hibler is the Head of Production in Storyboard Media which will collaborate with Sprokefeller Pictures for ‘Sea of Greed’. He is a popular producer and has co- produced ‘Arkansas’ alongside Sprokefeller Pictures. Ryan R. Johnson is a part of Sprokefeller Pictures and is another established producer. Martin Sprock is a known creator while Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard is an executive producer at Storyboard Media. Charles Ison is the founder of Creative Works Studio. Phil Kim and Patrick Muldoon are other well known producers who is credited with a number of works.
With a set crew, the production of ‘Sea of Greed’ is predicted to commence soon.
