Variety has heard that “Dark Winds” has received an AMC Season 3 renewal.
The announcement was made on September 3, the day the second season of AMC and AMC+ concluded. Dark Winds is also one of the AMC shows that Max is presently airing.

Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee book series served as the inspiration for “Dark Winds.” Kiowa Gordon plays Jim Chee, while McClarnon plays Joe Leaphorn. Jessica Matten, Deanna Allison, Elva Guerra, and guest stars Jeri Ryan, Nicholas Logan, A. Martinez, and Joseph Runningfox are also part of the cast.
According to the official synopsis for Season 2, they are reunited when two of Lt. Joe Leaphorn (McClarnon) former deputies and private eye Jim Chee (Gordon) cross paths while investigating the same suspect.
They find themselves pursuing a murderer who has set his sights on them in order to keep a secret that threatens Leaphorn’s moral and professional standards and rips open ancient scars in the high desert of Navajo Country.
Assisting Sgt. Manuelito (Matten) and Valencia County Sheriff Gordo Sena, Leaphorn, and Chee have to foil their potential killer and bring harmony back to the reservation that depends on them and their own lives.
