This upcoming feature film deals with a number of themes including addiction, mental health and more in a story that follows a woman who finds an escape from her past trauma and lack of control by playing blackjack. Except, her newfound hobby turns into an addiction and she must soon recover her mental health before gambling consumes her wholly. Titled ‘Surrender’, this upcoming drama is rumored to be directed by Jess Dang with Andrea Bang possibly joining its cast donning a primary role.
Jess Dang is an emerging director who is primarily known for her short films, with some of them being ‘Ryan McGinness: Studio Process’ which premiered in 2014 and ‘Guardian’ which premiered in 2022. ‘Surrender’ was supposedly one of Jess Dang’s short films which was released in 2022. Carrying a similar plotline, the film also starred Andrea Bang in the lead role of Naomi. Hence, for the upcoming feature film adaptation, there is a good chance that the actress will reprise her role.

The 2022 short film also featured other cast additions including Keiko Agena, Alexis Rhee and more. While it is not known on whether the said actors will be a part of the upcoming feature film, the possibility still exists. As for the status of the film, ‘Surrender’ has presumably commenced its filming and is being developed under Long Lunch Break. It is also suggested that Jessica Olthof and Darren Haruo Rae will be serving as the co- producers of this upcoming feature film. Seeing as how Jess Dang was the writer for the 2022 short film, there is a good chance that the screenplay for the upcoming feature film will be composed by Jess Dang herself.
Andrea Bang recently starred in ‘Float’ a romantic drama, in the role of Waverly. Her other recent on-screen appearances include Evelyn in ‘Dear David’ and Amelia in the short film ‘Hollow’.
