It’s official: there won’t be a third season of 1923! The actor who plays Spencer Dutton, Brandon Sklenar, hinted at a cast panel with the Hollywood Reporter that the show is limited and that season two will probably be its conclusion.
“No, no, it’s bookend. It’s still limited, but I think of it as one piece—there’s just a split in the middle, but it’s all one piece. It will conclude,” said Skelnar.
1923 was only meant to last for one season, but thanks to its enormous popularity, Paramount and the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, decided to move forward with a second season.
1923 became “the most-watched Paramount+ premiere of all time in the U.S. with 7.4 million viewers,” according to Variety.

1923 Season 3 Release Date
The third season of 1923 won’t happen, as the series was initially billed as limited. Thus, there’s no release date for season 3 of 1923.
In February 2023, fans of 1923 got wonderful news when Harrison Ford appeared on the Today show and announced that he would return to the character of Jacob Dutton in season 2.
The release date for the second season of the show has yet to be announced, though, since that time. A delay in the show is expected because of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Ford has said in the past that he enjoys playing Jacob Dutton. He stated to The New York Times in December 2022 that he had no intention of retiring any time soon, adding, “I love it.” I adore the challenge and the filmmaking process. My home is here. I’ve dedicated my entire life to it.”
