Fans of ‘Fantastic Four’ were up for a surprise when Marvel announced a new version of the hit film series to be under development. With an entirely new cast, the upcoming project was supposed to be set in the Multiverse which has been one of the focuses of Phase 4, 5 and 6. However, recent reports suggest that the filming of the reboot has been delayed further.
During the D23 which took place in 2022, it was revealed that Matt Shakman will be directing the upcoming project with the premiere being sometime in 2025. The new version was rumored to have stars Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby in talks for the roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storm respectively. Though much of the news surrounding the upcoming Fantastic Four are just speculations, the postponement of the project’s filming is highly likely. Currently, there are 2 released adaptations of the popular comic book series. The ‘Fantastic Four’ film series premiered its first film in 2005 which was followed by two sequels. This film series starred Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Ioan Gruffudd as the cour four. The team would then be reimagined in a new adaptation titled, ‘Fantastic Four’ which premiered in 2015. The cast members for this version included Miles Teller, Michael B Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell. In ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ which premiered in 2022, John Krasinski made a guest appearance as Mr. Fantastic/ Reed Richards
The upcoming project is rumored by some to have a different storyline from the original with the prime focus being the Multiverse and its supervillains. Yet, others suggest that Doctor Doom will most likely make an appearance in the reboot. Nonetheless, it will be a while before something can be declared with certainty on the plot and development of the upcoming project.
