The Upshaws Season 2: When will it premiere on Netflix?
It was declared formally on May 7, 2022 that the second season of the The Upshaws would arrive on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 just a little over a year after the series was greenlit.
“We are so excited we get to bring this amazing show back for a second season. And thankful that Netflix saw and felt all the love we got for this wonderful family,” Hicks explained in a statement at the time. “Looking forward to bringing more Upshaws’ joy to all who fell in love with them.”
“Wanda and Regina have created a fresh entry in the tradition of Black sitcoms that’s real, relatable, full of heart and incredibly funny,” added Tracey Pakosta of Netflix comedy boss. “We’re thrilled to see where they, along with their talented cast, take the Upshaws in the second season.”

How Many Episodes are there in Season 2 of The Upshaws?
Season 2 will consist of 16 episodes and will be split into two parts with eight episodes each. The first eight seasons will premiere on June 29, 2022, while the second part is speculated to arrive by the end of 2022 or in early 2023. The first season had just 10 episodes in total.
The Upshaws Season 2: Plot details
Upshaw’s Season 1 follows the story of an African American blue-collar working-class family. It portrays the marital conflict between the husband-wife duo, Bennie and Regina Upshaws. The couple is the parent to four children, Bernald Jr, Kevin, and their two daughters, Maya and Aaliyah. Despite the trials and tribulations in the previous part, Upshaws stick together and find love and find a deep sense of love and comfort as a family. Bennie and Regina’s elder son makes a revelation about his homosexuality in the last episode. Regina also confronts her exam failure with the support of her spouse, children, and sister. The arrival of a young girl at UpShaw’s doorsteps claiming to be Bennie’s daughter has put the protagonist in another trouble. Season 2 will centralize around this mystery while bringing more comedy and drama to the table via its relatable characters. Besides, it will unveil a more complicated side of the Upshaws. It would be fun to see what surprise elements season 2 brings along with it.
The Upshaws Season 2: Who is returning for Season 2?
It is a safe bet to assume that the core characters will make a reappearance for the next season. We expect to witness the comedy veteran, Mike Epps reprise his role as Bennie. Kim Fields will appear as Kim Fields, Bennie’s high school sweetheart turned wife. Jermelle Simon as Bernad Jr., Khali Spraggins as Aaliyah, and Journey Christine as Maya in the role of the couple’s children. Besides them, Bennie’s illegitimate son, Kelvin, will make a comeback as Diamond Lyons, The show’s co-creator and executive producer, Wanda Sykes will play Regina’s sister, Lucretia, who does not miss out on a chance to point his brother-in-law’ follies to his wife.
Page Kennedy and Tony are also part of the cast as Ducks and Tony respectively, are the family friends. Season 2 will welcome a new character, Ayaamii Sledge as Bennie’s daughter. The character has made an appearance in the final episode of season one. Savannah (Daria Johns) and Sheila (Dayna Dooley) will also feature in the series as the 13-year-old Aaliyah’s friends.
