For all the fans of ‘The Legend of Zelda’ out there, we have news for you as the popular action adventure video game is getting adapted into a feature film and is reportedly being taken up under Arad Productions. ‘The Legend of Zelda’ which was developed by Nintendo is a character based video game set in a fantasy world governed by three goddesses Din, Nayru and Farore. Its latest edition was released this year on May 12 and was titled as ‘The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’. The upcoming feature film stays true to the base plot of the popular video game series and will narrate the journey a boy named Link who is on a quest to save the Kingdom of Hyrule as well as its princess, the titular Zelda, who is a warrior herself. Together, the duo must stop and defeat the evil Ganon, who is on a hunt for all the three pieces of the Triforce in order to obtain ultimate power over the fictional world. Some of the other popular video games under Nintendo include, ‘Super Mario Odyssey’, ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ and ‘Donkey Kong Country’, to name a few.
Arad Productions who will be developing this upcoming project alongside Nintendo, Oddball Entertainment and Sony Pictures, is a known production company. Their works include, ‘Venom’ film series starring Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams, ‘Uncharted’ which premiered in 2022 and was directed by Ruben Fleischer, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ film series starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and more, ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ which premiered in 2023, ‘Ghost in the Shell’ which was released in 2017, and more.
Wes Ball to Direct ‘The Legend of Zelda’
The upcoming live action film will potentially be directed by Wes Ball, a known artist. Some of the popular works of Wes Ball include, ‘Maze Runner’ film series (an adaptation of the dystopian YA novel series with the same name by James Dashner) and ‘Phoenix Forgotten’ a sci- fi horror film starring Florence Hartigan, Luke Spencer Roberts and Chelsea Lopez, to name a few.
Avi Arad and Shigeru Miyamoto will be joining the crew for ‘The Legend of Zelda’ as its producers. Avi Arad is a known producer and the co- founder of Arad Productions and Marvel Studios. Shigeru Miyamoto is primarily known as a video game designer and is a popular artist. He is also the game director at Nintendo. Currently, ‘The Legend of Zelda’ is under active development and is predicted to premiere soon.
