Created by Sam Levinson & Abel Tesfaye & Reza Fahim, The Idol is an American drama series debuting on HBO and Max on June 4, 2023. The series’ storyline centres on the life of a rising pop star named Lily-Rose Depp and her complicated love anger with the cult pop leader, Tedros, who Tesfaye plays.
The series stars Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean, Rachel Sennott, Eli Roth, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Ramsey, Hank Azaria, Moses Sumney, Dan Levy, Jane Adams, Hari Nef, Suzanna Son, and Troye Sivan as the primary star cast.
The Idol would be the last TV appearance of Anne Heche, who met with a tragic accident on August 11, 2022. The production companies behind the series are The Reasonable Bunch, Manic Phase, Tiny Goat, People Pleaser, Bron, A24, and HBO Entertainment.
Will there be a second season of The Idol?
On June 29, 2021, the Weeknd unofficially announced that he will work as a co-writer and executive producer for the upcoming HBO drama series alongside Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson. HBO in November 2022, officially ordered the first edition of the drama series, ‘The Idol’, with an episode count of six. The series aired on HBO and Max on June 4, 2023. Regarding the renewal of the second season, HBO has not announced an update yet.
