Popular British historical drama Sanditon is all set to make a comeback with season 2. The series is an adaptation of an unfinished manuscript by Jane Austin. Set in the regency era, the plot treats the audience with its gripping storyline. The series first aired on ITV in the United Kingdom on August 25, 2019. The British romantic drama featuring Rose Williams and Theo James is returning with season 2. The first season premiered in 2019 in the UK. In early 2020, the series premiered in the United States. The remarkable narrative and romantic scenes gripped the audience and earned much popularity. The rising demand for another season made the series make a comeback.

When is it airing?
Masterpiece producer Susanne Simpson in a conversation with the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour disclosed that, “if all goes to plan, the series will be “with us next year”.
She explained by saying that the team of the hit period drama series are “just about three weeks into filming,” and teased that fans can expect to hear more about the exact release date in October this year.
PBS Boss and CEO Paula Kerger indicated that spectators could see their favourite show return on screens by January 2022 although a specific release date wasn’t provided.
Kerger added: “There is this wonderful window right after the holidays when people are exhausted. The days are shorter. At least, the light is shorter. And these shows have just done extraordinarily well in that period, which is why we schedule them the way that we do.”
In July, production for the second season of Sanditon started. PBS also announced that the show has been renewed for seasons 2 and 3 and Sanditon Season 4 after axing by UK broadcaster ITV.

New Casts have been finally introduced!
While we’re overjoyed that the upcoming season is arriving sooner; fans were deeply saddened to learn that Theo James who played Sidney Parker has departed from the show. But fans need not be discouraged as new stars have been cast and among them are two new potential love interests who will appear for the lovely Rose Williams who plays Charlotte Heywood.

What to expect from Sanditon season 2 plot?
As for the plot, it was also revealed that the upcoming season will pick up the story from where the first season left off and will centre on new relationships, friendships and hardships for the citizens of Sanditon.

As per a press release, “The new series will pick up the action nine months later, as the town is growing in popularity, and will feature characters familiar and new. Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams) returns to the beautiful seaside resort and soon attracts the attention of not one, but two new men. And, in her last summer season before turning 21, Georgiana Lambe (Crystal Clarke), keen to forge her own identity, gets up to mischief in the name of love…but will she run the risk of being lonelier than ever before? The Parkers are back, as Tom (Kris Marshall) strives to rebuild Sanditon. But there are many unforeseen issues awaiting him, while the secrets and lies of the dysfunctional Denhams continue to rock the foundations of the sunny seaside town.”

The second season of Sanditon will be launched in the United States on March 20, 2022, at 9/8c on PBS Masterpiece.
Meanwhile, the second season will be released on March 21, 2022, on BritBox in the United Kingdom.
