Who are Court Jesters?
Based on the sources we could gather, Court Jesters were entertainers to the nobles and member of the royal family belonging to medieval Europe. Understandably, medieval Britain was a time before a great many inventions on art and multiple forms of entertainments were only beginning to develop at a large scale. Hence, Court Jesters played an important role in amusing guests with humor. However, the title of a Court Jester was not restricted to Europe alone as there have been accounts of people employed for the same purposes across countries such as China among others. Court Jesters were paid for their craft and their appearance played a major role in their recruitment. The prominence of Court Jesters faded over time and were replaced by other forms of entertainment. Perhaps, stand up comedy is the resembling remnant of the craft in a slight manner. Comedy has always been difficult to pull off and it is certain that Court Jesters were talented artists.
It is not known how the upcoming series will be incorporating this element into their plot or how the creators will use court jesters to add onto their series genre, yet, it can be understood that the medieval element will play a crucial role to the series.
