Blumhouse and Comet Pictures will be collaborating for this upcoming feature film, titled as ‘Lost Bus’. Blumhouse is a known production company whose works include, ‘Insidious: The Red Door’, the fifth film in the ‘Insidious’ film franchise, ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ which premiered in 2023 and is a horror film, ‘Truth or Dare’ which starred Lucy Hale, Tyler Posey and Sophia Ali, ‘Happy Death Day’ which was directed by Christopher Landon and more. Comet Pictures is another known production company. ‘Lost Bus’ is predicted to be a survival thriller based on the 2018 California Wildfires. The film is reportedly under active development and will most likely stream on Apple TV.
Paul Greengrass will be directing the upcoming feature film while Brad Ingiesby will be composing the screenplay. Paul Greengrass is a known filmmaker whose works include, ‘Bourne’ film series which starred Matt Damon, ‘United 93’ a docudrama that premiered in 2006, ‘News of the World’ a western drama that featured Helena Zengel, Truman Hanks, Tom Hanks and more in the cast and ‘Green Zone’ a war themed action film which premiered in 2010, among others. Brad Ingiesby is primarily known as a screenwriter and his works include, ‘Mare of Easttown’ which premiered in 2021 and starred Kate Winslet and more, ‘Our Friend’ which premiered in 2019 and ‘Run All Night’ which was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, among others.
Plot of ‘Lost Bus’
The film commences on November 8, 2018 when the people residing in Paradise, California saw the rapidly spreading wildfire. Soon many faced injuries as the people had to leave their homes which were eaten up by the flames from the wildfire. With the town being engulfed in flames and many other residents trapped in their homes and cars, the wildfire had turned massive. By the next morning, close to eighty people were dead. The story of ‘Lost Bus’ is set in this event and will center on bus driver Kevin McKay and school teacher Mary Ludwig who helps in saving a bus full of children by navigating carefully through a deadly wildfire. The story is inspired by true events on the heroic save made by the bus driver Kevin McKay and Mary Ludwig during the 2018 California Wildfires.
Jason Blum, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lizzie Johnson will be joining the crew for ‘Lost Bus’ as its producers. Jason Blum is the Founder and CEO of Blumhouse Productions. Jamie Lee Curtis is a known actress/ producer who created Comet pictures. Lizzie Johnson is an author and the composer of ‘Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire’, a book on the 2018 California Wildfires. Other additions to the crew include Francine Maisler and more.
