A series on the life of Louis Aniaba who is often regard as the first “Black Musketeer in French history” is reportedly under production and is titled as, ‘Black Musketeers’. The series will be a spinoff of ‘The Three Musketeers- D’Artagnan’ and ‘The Three Musketeers- Milady’, a two- part film under Chapter 2, Pathé and M6 Films and is set to commence its shooting soon in France. For the upcoming series, Chapter 2, Pathé and M6 Films will be collaborating once more in its development.
Chapter 2 is an emerging production company based in France. Pathé is a known production company whose works include, ‘Second Round’ which was directed by Albert Dupontel, ‘Acid’ which starred Guillaume Canet, Laetitia Dosch, Patience Munchenbach, Marie Jung, Suliane Brahim of the Comédie Française and Martin Verset, ‘Moi Capitaine’ which is set to premiere in january, 2024 and more. M6 Films is another established production company whose works include, ‘Divorce Club’ which premiered in 2020 as a romantic comedy, ‘OSS 117: Le Caire nid d’espions’ which was directed by Michel Hazanavicius, ‘Taken’ film series starring Liam Neeson, and more.
Dimitri Rassam to Head the Production Team for ‘Black Musketeers’
Dimitri Rassam is a known producer and his works include, ‘Le brio’ which premiered in 21017 as a comedy, ‘Le Prenom’ which was directed by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte, ‘Our Lady of the Nile’ which is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Scholastique Mukasonga and ‘The Best is Yet to Come’ which premiered in 2019. He was also a co- producer of ‘The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan’ and ‘The Three Musketeers: Milady’. For the upcoming project, Dimitri Rassam will be joining the crew as the producer of the series.
Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière will be directing the upcoming series. Matthieu Delaporte is known both as a writer and producer and his works include, ‘Nobody from Nowhere’ which premiered in 2014, Dimitri Rassam’s ‘The Best is Yet to Come’ and ‘Le Prenom’ which he directed alongside Alexandre de La Patellière, ‘La Jungle’ which premiered in 2006 and more. some of the other works of Alexandre de La Patellière include, ‘Les Parrains’ which premiered as a comedy in 2005, ‘Il était une fois; une fois’ which was directed by Christian Merret-Palmair and premiered in 2012, ‘The Prodigies’ which premiered in 2011 and more. Additionally Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière will be composing the screenplay for the upcoming series. Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière wrote the screenplay for ‘The Three Musketeers- Milady’ and ‘The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan’. It will be interesting to see how the story of Louis Aniaba, a renowned French officer will serve as an inspiration for ‘Black Musketeers’ which will stream on Disney+.
