‘Breaking Twitter’ a limited series on the takeover of Twitter at the hands of Elon Musk is reportedly under production with MGM Television heading its development. The limited series will focus on the “darkly comic battle” between Elon Musk and Twitter. Supposedly the series will showcase the different narratives amongst employee accounts within Twitter headquarters and Elon Musk’s mission-driven team. The series is predicted to potentially find answers to the questions surrounding the future for Twitter on whether Elon Musk will miraculously succeed or will he spectacularly fail? What will that mean to Twitter, a prime medium for shared global conversations? What, really, is Elon Musk’s end goal? And more. The series is primarily based on the book, ‘Breaking Twitter: Elon Musk and the Most Controversial Corporate Takeover in History’ by Ben Mezrich.
MGM Studios is a known production company who has produced a number of projects belonging to both Film and Television industries. Some of their works include, ‘Teen Wolf: The Movie’ starring Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and more, ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ an ongoing reality show, ‘The Voice’ a music themed reality show, ‘Women Talking’ which premiered in 2022, ‘Bones and All’ starring Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet, ‘Licorice Pizza’ a dramedy which premiered in 2021 and was written/ directed by Paul Thomas, and more. The upcoming series will be produced by Ben Mezrich. Ben Mezrich is known for his non- fiction books such as, ‘Bringing Down the House’ (2002), ‘The Accidental Billionaires’ (2009), ‘The 37th Parallel’ (2016) and more. ‘Breaking Twitter’ is currently in its development stage and is predicted to commence its filming soon.
