Alice in Boderland’s Miyoshi Ayaka is reportedly in talks for an upcoming crime action film, titled, ‘Knuckle Girl’, an adaptation of a Korean webtoon by Jeong Sang Young. Interestingly enough, Kross Pictures, a South Korean production company will be backing this film which is set to feature on Prime Video. Miyoshi Ayaka is an established Japanese actress/ singer who is known for her roles in ‘Dance with Me’ and ‘Howling Village’. She is also a member of Sakura Gakuin, a girl group under the entertainment agency Amuse Inc. Unlike her previous roles, Miyoshi Ayaka will star in this upcoming film as Ran, an emerging woman boxer who goes after a criminal gang that kidnaps her sister. Ran is a character with a hurdle filled past of her own as she will be depicted as a survivor of bullying and one who participates in illegal bouts. Though pursuing the underworld gang will be a lot harder than it seems, Ran is ready to risk it all and in fact enters fearlessly in it wearing brass knuckledusters. Now, that is an intense plot!
Chang to Direct the Japanese Korean Feature
A pro in action/thriller themed entertainers, Chang or Yoon Hong seung is supposedly going to direct ‘Knuckle Girl’ while Yoo Gap yeol and Jeong Byeong-sik will be joining the crew as its writers. Kross Pictures is an already established production company that recently co produced the Hindi-language film, Jaane Jaan (an adaptation of ‘The Devotion of Suspect X’ which was also produced by the company), starring Kareena Kapoor. Kross Pictures also co produced other Indian remakes such as ‘Blind’ (an adaptation of a South Korean film of the same name) starring Sonam Kapoor and ‘Saakini Daakini’ (Midnight Runners). Chang is majorly known for his film ‘The Target’ which received an accolade at the Shanghai International Film Festival.
As per our sources, the upcoming crime action film is under development and the casting is yet to be fixed. That being said, if Miyoshi Ayaka does star as Ran, the film is already at an advantage as the star is extremely talented. Since the film is a direct adaptation of the webtoon that was published in KakaoPage, a majority of the plot may seem predictable. However, with an astonishing crew working behind ensuring that the film stands out and has unique attributes of its own, one thing is for certain, ‘Knuckle Girl’ will be a power packed revenge story that is bound to enamor you.
