LuckyChap Entertainment is gearing up for another production titled, ‘The Thin Man’, a reboot of the original 1934 film which starred William Powell and Myrna Loy among others. Being developed as a feature film, ‘The Thin Man’ will follow a similar plot as the original film with Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner joining the crew as the film’s producers.
The film will follow the story of Nick and Nora Charles, the protagonists of the story who are in a blissful vacation. Being accompanied by their schnauzer, Asta, the merry couple, are leading a lavish and peaceful time away in Normandie, New York City for the Christmas holiday, enjoying the perks of wealth with extravagant meals, theater openings, taxi rides at dawn and more. Crazy about each other, loving, kind to those in need, and with suave, Nick and Nora are happy and their home life provides a refuge from the notorious world of gangsters, hoodlums, and police investigations that Nick is immediately pushed into. When a lawyer-friend asks Nick to help him in finding out a killer and reintroduces him to the family of Richard Wynant, a man with a mysterious past, chaos ensues. Seemingly his former wife, Mimi, has secrets of her own and is determined to ruin Wynant’s family fortune. Wynant’s children, Dorothy and Gilbert,are also interestingly peculiar enough. Matters get further complicated when Dorothy, begins to develop feelings for Nick, while, Gilbert begins to idolize him in a worshipping way. Nick and Nora respond kindly as they usually do to their affections as Nick tries to get to thew center of bamboozling, false information, two faced personas, and most importantly, the mystery of The Thin Man, Richard Wynant. Being the prime suspect, the rest of the film will follow how Richard Wynant is revealed to be.
The Original ‘The Thin Man’
‘The Thin Man’ was originally released as a comedy mystery film series, with the films, ‘After the Thin Man’, ‘Another Thin Man’, ‘Shadow of the Thin Man’, ‘The Thin Man Goes Home’ and ‘Song of the Thin Man’ serving as the subsequent films. William Powell and Myrna Loy repriced their roles in all the films of the series. The film series was an adaptation of ‘The Thin Man’, a 1933 novel by Samuel Dashiell Hammett.
It will be interesting to see how the upcoming film will showcase the familiar plot in a novel manner.
