Lucía Puenzo’s upcoming project is inspired from true events and will follow Margarita Di Tullio, a leader of Mar del Plata underworld who became the most famous woman in Argentina’s criminal history. Lucía Puenzo is primarily known as an author, director and her works include, ‘The German Doctor’ which premiered in 2013 as a mystery thriller, ‘The Fish Child’ which starred Inés Efron, Mariela Vitale and Carlos Bardem, ‘Tell It Like a Woman’ which premiered in 2022 and more. The upcoming project is titled as ‘The Gunwoman’ and will showcase how Margarita Di Tullio became a wanted criminal after causing a revolution in the prostitution business when she rescued and empowered some women who were victims of human trafficking. A triple crime led to the development of Margarita Di Tullio’s legend when in August 1985 she shot and killed three criminals, in an attempt to defend her family, when they entered her bedroom.
The upcoming feature film is being taken up under Zeppelin Studio, a known production company and will have Lucía Puenzo directing it alongside composing the film’s screenplay.
Luisana Lopilato to Take on the Lead Role
Luisana Lopilato is rumored to take on the lead role in ‘The Gunwoman’ which is currently in its development stage. Luisana Lopilato is known both as an actress and a model with her works being, ‘Perdida’ which premiered in 2018, ‘Intuition’ in which she played the role of Manuela Pelari, ‘Los Que Aman Odian’ which is directed by Alejandro Maci and ‘Alma Pirata’ which ran for 2 seasons to name a few.
Joining Lucía Puenzo in the writers’ crew are Andrés Gelós and Tatiana Mereñuk. Andrés Gelós is a known screenwriter whose works include, ‘The Last Runway 2, Commando Yaguarete’ which received a rating of 7.1/10 on IMDB, ‘2091’ which premiered in 2016, ‘Cumbia Ninja’ which ran for 3 seasons, ‘The Innocents’ which is directed by Mauricio Brunetti and more. Tatiana Mereñuk is primarily known as a director and her works include, ‘Yo Soy Sola’ a dramedy that premiered in 2008 and ‘Dive’ which premiered in 2022.
Erik Barmack, Yair Dori, Javier Furgang and Lucas Jinkis will be joining the crew for ‘The Gunwoman’ as its producers. Erik Barmack’s previous works include, ‘Dark’ which ran for 3 seasons and 3% which premiered its first season in 2016. Yair Dori is the founder of Dori Media Group. Javier Furgang and Lucas Jinkis are surfacing producers.
For, ‘The Gunwoman’, Zeppelin Studio will be joined by Wild Sheep Content (Founded by Erik Barmack), Non Stop Studios and Historias Cinematográficas.
