Spacemaker Productions’ upcoming project is a feature film titled as, ‘Son’ which is set to commence its filming in December this year. Spacemaker Productions is a known production company whose works include, ‘The Scary of Sixty Five’ which premiered in 2021 as a horror thriller, ‘Spree’ which premiered in 2020 and starred Joe Keery, Sasheer Zamata, David Arquette and more, ‘How to Blow up a Pipeline’ which was directed by Daniel Goldhaber and premiered in 2023, ‘Harka’ which was directed by Lotfy Nathan, among others. Cinenovo will be joining Spacemaker Productions for the development of the upcoming feature film. ‘Son’ will narrate the story of young Jesus whose childhood has never been accounted in detail in Bible, the holy book of Christianity. The film is rumored to be based on the apocryphal infancy gospel of Thomas and will provide a fictionalized account of a missing period in the biblical timeline associated with Jesus. The upcoming feature film has an approved SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement to continue casting and is predicted to wrap up its filming by the end of February, next year.
Lotfy Nathan to Direct ‘Son’
Lotfy Nathan, an emerging filmmaker will potentially be directing ‘Son’. Some of Lotfy Nathan’s works besides ‘Harka’ include, ’12 O’Clock Boys’ which premiered in 2013 as a documentary narrating the story of Pug who aspires to become a dirt-bike rider someday and ‘Days of Black and Yellow’ which premiered in 2019 and was directed by Ray Levé and Willie Miesmer alongside Lotfy Nathan.
Julie Viez, Alex Hughes and Riccardo Maddalosso will be joining the crew as the film’s producers. Julie Viez is a surfacing producer and was a part of Lotfy Nathan’s ‘Harka’. Her other works include, ‘Non-Fiction’ which premiered in 2018 and starred Juliette Binoche, Charles Gillibert and Nora Hamzawi. Alex Hughes’ works include, ‘The Lady of Heaven’ which premiered in 2021 as a historical drama, ‘Rotting in the Sun’ which was directed by Sebastián Silva, ‘American Carnage’ a horror comedy, ‘Big Brother Volcano’ which premiered in 2017 and more. Riccardo Maddalosso is an emerging roducer whose works include, ‘Armageddon Time’ which was directed by James Gray and ‘The Wheel’ a romance starring Taylor Gray and Amber Midthunder. Riccardo Maddalosso was a part of ‘Harka’.
‘Son’ will be shot in Jordan. Jordan is a place that frequently appears in Bible and hence, will serve as an apt location for depicting the childhood of Jesus. With an actively developing production, ‘Son’ will be potentially announcing a premiere date soon.
