Jeffrey Archer’s ‘Kane and Abel’ is reportedly getting adapted into a series with Eleven Film heading the production. Narrating the story of two men at odds, ‘Kane and Abel’ showcases two sides of the same coin who in the hatred for one another, fail to realize that they are quite alike in many ways. With one being Polish and an illegitimate son and the other from a wealthy Boston banking family, Kane and Abel are in a relentless pursuit to amass wealth. Born on the same day on opposite sides of the world, their tale is one full of revenge that continues for a period of 60 years as the two patriarchs blindly commit their lives to destroying one another’s empires with a single event serving as the root cause of it all. Yet, any story has a complication, this one does too as when Abel’s strong-willed daughter, Florentyna, meets Kane’s son Richard, matters take a turn for the worst and at the center of it all is Kane and Abel who would not compromise their purpose at any cost.
‘Kane and Abel’ was published in the year 1979 and was an instant bestseller and was followed by a sequel titled, ‘The Prodigal Daughter’ based on Florentyna, the daughter of Abel. Jeffrey Archer is a popular novelist whose other works include, ‘Only Time Will Tell’, ‘Best Kept Secret’, ‘Mightier Than the Sword’ and more.
Crew, Screenplay, Progress and More
Being taken up under Eleven Film, ‘Kane and Abel’ is supposedly under active development with producers, Joel Wilson, Jamie Campbell, James Baker and James Archer joining the crew. Joel Wilson is the recipient of several nominations and is a known producer. Jamie Robert Campbell is another established producer who co- founded Eleven Film with Joel Wilson. James Baker is the co- founder of Silberhorn Media Capital while James Archer is an emerging producer.
The crew will be joined by Sarah Quintrell who will be serving as the writer and producer of ‘Kane and Abel’. Sarah Quintrell is a BAFTA nominee and is a popular writer whose works include, ‘Ellen’, ‘Rillington Place’ and more. She will be writing the screenplay for the upcoming series. Some of the works produced by Eleven Film include, ‘Sex Education’, Gap Year’, and more. Jeffrey Archer’s book, ‘Kane and Abel’ has received an adaptation in 1985 starring Peter Strauss and Sam Neill which was released as a mini series. Now, with an active crew, the book will be adapted yet again with a modern twist of its own.
