After an inevitable wait of 15 years, Will Smith is all set to return with “I Am Legend 2”. Will Smith starred in the original I Am Legend, a critical and commercial success directed by Francis Lawrence. The movie was based on the classic novel of the same name by the late Richard Matheson.

Since I Am Legend 2 Release Date
Since I Am Legend 2 is still in its early stages of development, an official release date has not yet been revealed.
Deadline reported in February 2023 that the picture is still progressing, despite the lack of updates and the impression that the project is stuck in development purgatory. Goldsman’s production firm, Weed Road, has a first look deal with Warner Bros. for the project.
I Am Legend 2: The Beginning is the first of two enjoyable projects that Goldman alluded to as part of this new agreement.
“We are kicking things off with two enjoyable and distinctly Warners projects: the follow-up to “I Am Legend,” starring Will and Michael B. Jordan, and the Francis Lawrence-directed follow-up to “Constantine,” starring Keanu Reeves. So I’m moving quickly out of the gate. Francis, Keanu, and I have already progressed quite far into the story-breaking phase of the project that JJ Abrams and I are working on.”
Director Lawerence stated in a 2022 interview with ComicBook.com that he had “spoken to [Goldsman] a little bit about it,” but he still believes the film is “a ways away.”
“I’ve chatted with Akiva about it a little bit, but I believe it will take some time. that would be a pleasure to do that. About “I Am Legend,” I’ve heard a few things. Though I’m bound to secrecy on “I Am Legend,” we really don’t have much—we’re just exploring ideas for “Constantine.”
After the Writers Guild of America strike ended, fans have recently received an update on the movie.
At a December 2023 Red Sea International Film Festival discussion, Will Smith revealed via Variety that a new script drift has been finished and that he will soon be discussing the project with co-star Michael B. Jordan:
“Tomorrow, I’m speaking with Michael B. Jordan. The script just arrived, and we’re pretty close.”

I Am Legend 2 plot: What can we expect from the second film’s plot? *Spoiler Alert*
When Michael B. Jordan suggested a sequel to Will Smith; he was pleased enough to discuss it with the producers and get it greenlit. It’s likely that the second film will take place at the survivors’ camp, where the first movie ended.
As for the plot, (considering the recent events that took place in the last two years), there may be some real-world analogies. Perhaps finding a hidden place to spread an infectious disease or something of that sort.

On March 4, 2022, reports confirmed that Warner Bros. was actively developing I Am Legend 2. In an encouraging sign for those who enjoyed the first I Am Legend, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman is returning to pen the script.
