Happy Feet is a 3D animated musical comedy movie helmed, produced and co-penned by George Miller. It stars a list of famous Hollywood actors including the likes of Robin Williams, Elijah Wood, Hugh Jackman, Brittany Murphy, Nicole Kidman, E.G. Daily, and Hugo Weaving.
The Happy Feet franchise is internationally co-produced between the US and Australia, the movie is also produced in Sydney-based visual effects and animation company Animal Logic and Warner Bros., Kingdom Feature Prods, Village Roadshow Pics, and was theatrically launched in North America and Australia on November 17, 2006, and December 26, 2006 respectively.
The 3D animated movie is the first movie to have been produced by Kennedy Miller and Animal Logic. The movie received major attention and was heavily praised by the audience and critics alike. It also won a BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, an Academy Award winner for Best Animated Feature Film.
Happy Feet was a box office hit. It collected a whopping $384 million approximately against a production budget of $100 million. Meanwhile, the second movie titled ‘Happy Feet Two’ that released on November 18, 2011, was a box office flop collecting just over $150 million across the globe against a budget of $135 million.
Do you think Happy Feet Three will happen even though the second movie was a massive box office flop? Happy Feet Two was definitely a huge blow to the franchise and it’s been more than a decade since the last film was released and at this point, nothing is too sure. Let’s find out below.
Is Happy Feet 3 in production?
There is no information regarding the third sequel of the Happy Feet franchise. Moreover, the only time it was mentioned about a Happy Feet 3 movie was during an interview with the director George Miller who was asked concerning the prospect of Happy Feet 3, to which he responded:
“If you put a gun to my head and said, ‘You have to come up with a story for Happy Feet Three,’ I’d say shoot me. I would have no idea. I really would have no idea. The stories creep up on you. You just have to allow the stories to come, and then they get in like little ear worms in your head and they won’t go away. If that happens and we’ve got the energy, we’ll do it is a fantastic movie a third one. If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. That’s the only way you can do it. It has to be authentic. I really wanted to make this film better than the first one. Otherwise, at my age, what’s the point? You really want to make it better. If something comes up that’s really exciting and I can convey that enthusiasm to other people, then there would be a third one.” The future remains hopeful for now.
Happy Feet 3 Release Date: When is it?
As of now, there’s no word on it yet about a third Happy Feet movie; neither did the showrunner provide a release date. Furthermore, the third installment has not been renewed and expecting a release date is a far cry.
A lot of people anticipated that the film would be launched between the year 2016 to 2019 but unfortunately, that never happened. Fast forward, it’s already at the end of 2021 and we still got nothing. Could we expect an announcement soon? We shall wait and see as 2022 arrives.
The other important thing is, the showrunners are in dilemma themselves, unless they obtain a proper script that’s worth working on for a third movie, the producers and directors will remain unfazed and the project will not proceed. Fans are hopeful that the showrunners will bring to us a whole lot of new and exciting adventures if a new movie of Happy Feet happens.
Summing up, there’s a high possibility that Happy Feet 3 won’t be happening. It’s tough to point it out but for now, the future seems uncertain. However, if the showrunner gets their hands-on on undeniably good script things might just work out for Happy Feet 3 to have a fresh start, else the last movie was supposedly the final outing of the series.
