‘Gramercy Park’, the upcoming entertainer from Mike Newell and Scott Winant will narrate the journey of two sisters Kate and Maureen as they rise up the social hierarchy during the 1880s in New York. Following their parents’ death in an accident, Kate Donovan becomes a harlot to earn the funds required to raise her younger sister Maureen Donovan. Kate desires for Maureen to receive quality education and consequentially enter the New York society and fulfill the American dream. Through immense struggle and perseverance, Kate soon rises from the back alleys of the Five Points to the respectable world of Gramercy Park. She becomes mistress to some of Wall Street’s most powerful men, while Maureen becomes prominent in the New York Society and marries into one of America’s most influential families. Though they try hard to guard their secret, Osgood Plimpton, a lawyer and fixer to the powerful, discovers the truth that they are indeed sisters. Knowing that the secret could destroy Kate, her sister and everything Kate has built, she must risk it all in safeguarding her only family.

Mike Newell and Scott Winant will collaborate in ‘Gramercy Park’, directing the potential hit. Mike Newell is an established director/ producer who is a recipient of BAFTA which he won for his movie, ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ which starred Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell in lead roles. His other popular directions include ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ from the ‘Harry Potter’ film series, ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’, ‘Mona Lisa Smile’ and many other acclaimed entertainers. Scott Winant is another director/producer, who is known for his films, ‘Til There Was You’, ‘The Initiation’ and the sitcom ‘The Brink’. Janet Dulin Jones will reportedly join the crew as ‘Gramercy Park’s’ writer.
Lauri Apelian, the producers of horror films such as ‘Dread’, ‘Head Count’ and ‘Dark Corners’ besides movies in other genres will be producing this upcoming series alongside Brenda Friend (Old Beantown Films). Though the series is yet to commence its production, ‘Gramercy Park’ will most likely be shot in United Kingdom.
Gabriel Byrne and Mira Sorvino to Join the Cast
The Golden Globe award winner Gabriel Byrne is reportedly in talks for the lead role in ‘Gramercy Park’. The renowned actor’s films include ‘End of Days’, ‘The Usual Suspects’, ‘Stigmata’ and many more. Mira Sorvino will most likely be joining Gabriel Byrne as the lead for the series. Mira Sorvino is also a recipient of several accolades such as The Golden Globe and The Academy Award. Her films include, ‘Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion’, ‘The Replacement Killers’ and ‘At First Sight’. With a strong plot and an efficient team working on the project, ‘Gramercy Park’ is predicted to be an instant hit!
