Created by Megan McGrath and Irad Eyal, “Floor is Lava” is a game show based on a children’s game of the exact title. The series is hosted by Rutledge Wood and directed by Brian Smith. The ten episode first season debuted on Netflix on June 19, 2020.
In an interview with Beyond Reality, Frank Sinton, president of A. Smith and Co. Production was asked why the show is a hit across the globe.
“I think it’s that relatability, right? We’re all kids at heart. Like the, the games we love, you know, tag, hide and go seek, like this is sort of that version. It’s simple. So it’s relatable. It’s fun. And let’s be honest. We like watching people fall in the lava! Like it’s still kinda fun when they fall, we laugh, but you know, nobody gets hurt. It’s just good fun. And I think we’re at a time where, you know, there’s a lot of serious stuff all around the world,” he said. “And I think sometimes we just need to have a good time and Floor Is Lava is that. We’ve got a great host. Rutledge is great. It’s a good time. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. And I think it’s great to do things that change the world and that’s a big part of our brand, but it’s also great to just have a good time and laugh and watch something together too. It’s a true family show. You know, kids can enjoy it just as much as adults and watch it together. I mean, growing up, there was a lot more stuff you’ve watched as a family. Now it’s more of a rarity. So I think that’s a big key too,” Sinton explained.
Is Season 3 of Floor is Lava Happening on Netflix?
Following the success of the first season, Netflix renewed the show for a second season which was released on June 3, 2022. Now you may be wondering whether or not there’ll be a third season.
Well, as of this writing, Floor is Lava is yet to be renewed for a third installment. Given the success of the previous two seasons, we’re optimistic about the show’s return in the future. Fans probably need to wait patiently for a while for the season’s 3 renewal announcement.
On the off chance that the series gets renewed before the end of this year, the new season is likely to arrive in early to mid-2023. Till then we urge the fans to exercise patience.
