‘Emma Mackey’ upcoming project is a feature film titled as ‘Ella McCay’ in which she will potentially be playing the role of the titular character. Emma Mackey is a popular actress who was previously seen in Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ in which she played the role of the Physicist Barbie and season 4 of ‘Sex Education’ wherein she resumed her role of Maeve. Her other popular works include, ‘Emily’ which premiered in 2022, ‘Death on the Nile’ which was directed by Kenneth Branagh and ‘The Winter Lake’ which starred Mark McKenna, Charlie Murphy and more, to name a few. ‘Ella McCay’ is predicted to be a romantic drama revolving around an idealistic politician poised to run for governor as she parallely deals with family issues. Initially, the pre-strike filming dates for ‘Ella McCay’ were in September with the shooting wrapping up by December. However, recent updates suggest that the feature film is supposedly commencing its filming in December. Providence, Rhode Island will be serving as the primary location for the feature film. Some of the other works shot in the place include, ‘There’s Something About Mary’ which premiered in 1998, ‘Dance Moms’ which is a reality show that ran for 8 seasons, ‘Dan in Real Life’ which premiered in 2007 and more. The alternate title of the film is ‘Sisters’.
James L. Brooks to Join the Crew for ‘Ella McCay’
James L. Brooks will most likely be directing the upcoming feature film. James L. Brooks is a known director and producer whose works include, ‘Spanglish’ which premiered in 2004 as a romantic comedy, ‘How Do You Know’ which starred Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson and Jack Nicholson, ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’ which ran for 7 seasons, ‘I’ll Do Anything’ which is a Gracie Films production and ‘The Simpsons Movie’ which premiered in 2007, to name a few.
Richard Sakai will be heading the production team for ‘Ella McCay’. Richard Sakai is the President of Gracie Films and is a known producer.
