Riverdale star Charles Melton has been officially cast as the lead role in the upcoming film ‘May December’ starring Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore.
As per reports by Deadline, Melton will be seen next in the much-anticipated film ‘May December’ in which he plays the role of a thirty-six-year-old man named Joe, who is wedded to Gracie (Julianne Moore). About two decades back, Joe and Gracie had a bit of a history. To put it, these two were in a scandalous relationship when Gracie was his educator. They have twins together who are graduating from high school.
For those who don’t know, Melton is popularly known for portraying the role of Reggie Mantle in the series ‘Riverdale’ on The CW network. Some of his past credits include “Secret Headquarters,” helmed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, and “Heart of Champions,” helmed by Michael Mailer.
Also starring alongside Melton in ‘May December’ are two of the most well known actresses Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore. This is their sixth time collaborating with filmmaker Todd Haynes. The upcoming project is illustrated as “an exploration of truth” and the inability of making an effort to completely comprehend another person.
The upcoming film is set to be helmed by filmmaker Todd Haynes whose past credits includes “The Velvet Underground,” “Dark Waters,” and “Wonderstruck.” Samy Burch penned the screenplay for the film who also worked on the tale along with Alex Mechanik. “What so appealed to me about Samy Burch’s exceptional script was how it navigated potentially volatile subject matter with a kind of observational patience that allowed the characters in the story to be explored with uncommon subtlety,” Haynes earlier stated about the film.
Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell, Killer Films’ Christine Vachon, and Pam Koffler will be serving as producers for the film under Gloria Sanchez Productions’ banner. The movie will also be produced by Grant S. Johnson and Tyler W. Konney on behalf of their production companies Project Infinity and Taylor and Dodge along with Portman and Sophia Mas through MountainA.

As of now, there is no release date for ‘May December,’ but we do know that filming began this year so fans can likely see the film sometime in 2023. Till then wait patiently for further details.
