AMC’s Content Room is developing a six-part short-form series called “Night Island” based on Anne Rice’s “Interview with the Vampire” and “The Queen of the Damned”. The series will follow a pair of art thieves intending to steal a legendary painting who go undercover on Night Island.
The series is part of AMC’s Content Room Originals strategy which aims to create content for all formats and platforms . The Content Room works closely with the producers of AMC’s shows and branded content shows are being made longer, from seven minutes to a full 30, but they’re elastic and can be cut down to any length and how on any platform .
The series merges the worlds of Anne Rice’s “Interview with the Vampire” and “The Queen of the Damned” which involves witches and vampires at its core . The series will be produced by AMC’s Content Room in collaboration with Anne Rice’s son Christopher Rice .
The series will be directed by Karyn Kusama who has previously directed movies like “Girlfight”, “Jennifer’s Body”, and “Destroyer” . The script for the series will be written by Christopher Rice who has previously written books like “The Heavens Rise”, “The Vines”, and “Bone Music” .
AMC Networks’ streaming TV service will debut an ad tier that will include original programming from its Content Room division . The service will also include other short-form content like “Cooper’s Bar” which stars Rhea Seehorn and follows a group of regulars at a neighborhood bar in Chicago .
When Will Night Island Release?
“Night Island” is expected to premiere on AMC Networks’ streaming TV service in late 2023 or early 2024 .
